these guys are riding really fast...by themselves mostly.... great camera bike shots of a quick lap, though...;)

At the IOM TT , pairs of riders are released at 6 minute intervals .
Yes , you are racing against the clock , but there in much catch and pass going on out there over the course of 6 laps . Not like you are out there totally alone .
This type of racing ain't no American style oval track qualifying crap .

Where there was one locally , I used to score consistently in the 43,000,000 range .
The Guiness record was around 25,000,000 at the time .
Nothing like the real thing , in the least . All you needed to do was to learn the program and use it like a video game instead of the real thing . You could do things with the game that would have killed you in real life .

Superbike (six laps)
Sidecar A (three laps)

Royal London Superstock (four laps)
Monster Energy Supersport race 1 (four laps)

SES TT Zero (one lap)

Lightweight race
Senior TT (six laps)

Yes , shame on me .
The reason that they run the sidecars in 2-3 lap segments is because a chain just won't do 6 laps on a sidecar rig , let alone 4 , safely .

I love the sidecar TT races.... :)...

The best "racing" I've seen lately is in the smallest GP class... a pack of angry bees swapping the lead amongst 10 riders for the whole race.... that's racing...
who cares if bikes go super fast?... I want to see guys racing eachother on the track, elbows out...cut and thrust, out braking, all guts and glory racing....

IOM a good test for the riders/teams though, to challenge the Island... break last years times, etc...
there's only so many times you can watch a bike go around the island track, one at a time.... as a spectator on TV.... you tend to start looking at the backdrops....;)

Drag racing is more fun for watching timed events....;)

I've rode/raced bikes from 70's until the '90's...and have been watching IOM TT's since they were shown on cinema film in B&W.... and the bikes were mostly British.....;)

I had a few beers with Jamie Whitam in a hotel bar in Monterey one year. He was telling me a bit about what it is really like to ride the Isle. Scary stuff indeed.

37 miles of wet pavement have more grip than 1/2 mile of damp clay.

Dirt track bikes have essentially no brakes...

Speedway bikes have literally no brakes.

...those arcade games would throw you through the cinderblock wall of the arcade when you crashed.

We don't need to ban violent video games. We just need more realistic consequences when you lose.

Damn you Nick . I should NOT be watching stuff like that .
I delivered apple trees to Tennessee this past weekend and the guy at the University of the South that I met up with and I spent an evening talking and racing came up .
He commented about how it must have been difficult to walk away from it after all those years and adjust without it . He is soo right and videos like this tend to drive it home , but I guess that it is OK . After all , it is the past and this is now .
I do miss it so ... Would have loved to have done the TT just once .

The Isle of Man TT is on my list of things to go see. I have a friend that went a few years back. Said the race was amazing. Also said the rest of the trip was very good also.
