Ignore list?

I find this feature odd. Some of you obviously can't see this right now! LOL

If you don't 'like' someone on here... why don't you just not read their posts, as opposed to having them completely unavailable? Even members I don't care much for/don't agree with a lot, I still find a post by them (occasionally) interesting, amusing, etc. If nothing else, maybe they post an opinion I disagree with, and I might want to offer up a counter-point.

If someone is on your ignore list and they start a thread, can you not see that thread at all?

If someone quotes someone on your list, can you see the quote?

I use IGNORE on one board only, and for one person only. That person is a shill (and for a good product, too). But when I began to read comments putting down their competition, with no mention of what this person sells for a living, and basing the comments on a spec-sheet (not actual experience). Well, that was too much for me (and I am surprised those mods allow it continue).

I suspect I'm on that list for a few members. Just about everything I post in Bad Dog goes un-noticed.

For the record my Ignore List is empty.

I've never used the ignore function on this or any other forum. If there's someone whose views I fundamentally disagree with or I find annoying or offensive, then seeing their posts just affirms my opinion of them. Either that or I can just sort of, well, ignore them!

I've never understood the "ignore" function, either. There are many opinions about many things that i don't agree with, but I like to "think" I have an open enough mind to at least consider everyone's opinion/views on whatever topic.

I've been P.O.'d more than a few times by comments made by others, and I'm sure I've P.O.'d people more than a few times myself.

Anyway, the "ignore" function is not anything I will use. I just choose "not to agree" with some things, and will state so in that topic, and move on.

How soon this FORUM would die if we all agreed on everything........

I used it for a while because a frequent poster had an avatar photo that I found disturbing - just gave me the willies.

I used to use Ignore List about four or five years ago. At the time there were a couple of Members that were simply contrary. Most posts were harsh and antagonistic, holier than thou, etc. It just got under my skin and kind of ruined the atmosphere that I've enjoyed here since I joined 11 or so years ago.

If they started a thread I'd avoid it, but they responed in other peoples threads of course and for me that was where most of the disruption was. So, I tried the Ignore List. It immediately made my experience better.

After some time I noticed that I hadn't seen their names in while. It turns out that one just stopped posting and hasn't been back in years, the other was banned or removed by the Mods.

I haven't used the List since, but it did help to remove the constant irritant at that time.

I don't have anybody on mine, but I can see why some people use it.

I do sometimes wish it was possible to know whose list I'm on, though I can't think of any possible good that would come from knowing.

I didn't know there was one . When I first joined this group there were a couple members that bugged me or I completely disagreed with. But would always read their post now they are some of my favorite posters. I think in time you get to know the posters better and understand them and their post. All kinds of opinions and attitude in any forum as for blocking someone, I let the moderators do my dirty work and they do it well.
