Fish and Game have movement activated cameras in the mountain range near where I'm at. Last month they went up and retrived the cameras to see what have been roaming around in the Santa Rita Mountains. Here's a few pics from Oct & Nov:









No Cougars, but at least one Oselot and a couple of Jaguars.

There was a guy on Vancouver Island a few years ago who killed at attacking cougar with his pocket knife. He lost most of his scalp in the battle, but he survived.
Cougars do engage in a fight. They won't always just run away.
