The little plastic bread bag tabs (as opposed to the twisty tie ones) can be made into cheap temporary strap locks.

Bill Hullett had a great one he posted here several years ago about how to tame a buzzing tele due to 60 cycle hum. I had actually forgot all about it until I was cleaning out my gig bag the other day and came across it.
You take one of them little metal alligator clips, (what we oldsters used to call a roach clip back in the day) attach a wire to it. On the other end, make a circle to fit the finger of your choice. Attach the alligator clip to your bridge and the other end to your finger. I can vouch for this one as I used it during a recording session a few years back...it worked like a charm. |

A large cupboard, old wardrobe or door make a great imrovised amp if you don't have, or can't afford an amp.
Just press the headstock against cupboard or door and instant amplification ! That's how we did it as kids before we saved enough to buy an amp : ) |

When testing equipment at your local guitar shop, make sure that the amp and guitar is dimed otherwise you are not truly experiencing what it can do.

Luxury! I have used a valve radio as an amp and it sounds good. Has to be a big loud radio or radiogram to get much benefit though. I guess there are sockets somewhere on the back of a modern TV that could be used for guitar. Every house has a TV. |
