Adding a Harkte Bass cab to my amp set up. WHOA!

Since in my band we have to play a lot of Dropped C stuff, my Trusty Peavey Classic VT amp seems to be having a lot of trouble coping with the extra low end, so as an experiment I connected my 2x10 Hartke Bass cabinet to see what difference it would make in overall sound.

It was like tying a big beer belly down with a strong leather belt. This made all the difference in the world, what a powerful and tight sound it makes, it takes a load off the twelve inchers of my amp while adding a lot of highs and keeping the devastating lows.

When I played a normal tuned strat through this beast it sounded even tighter. Guys, I think I just discovered my ideal Amp set up.

Seek and ye shall find....

It's all about experimentation and empiricism. Hey, you know someone in the 1950s was compelled to take a guitar and plug it into a Fender Bassman amp. I'll betcha they said "Whoa!" too.

Having said that, I usually run through two Fender Twin Reverbs...I also have a Hartke 3500 bass combo...I wonder if.... 8) :P

Guitars sound great though bass amps! (as long as you don't mind anything but CLEAN tones, unless you plug into an Ampeg SVT and turn it up so loud that low-flying aircraft will be blown off course.

A good full range bass rig also makes the world's censored-censoring LOUDEST home stereo...not that I have any experience with that...

What, honey? There's a policeman at the door?

That's how Roger "The Immortal" Nichols had Elliot Randall do the classic solo on Steely Dan's "Reelin' In The Years."
