My wife and kids gave me one for my birthday (shortly before Christmas) a few years ago. It sits in the front window.

You shouldn't be allowed to buy them. You should half to earn one! After all it's a major award.

20 inches must be something like a 3/4 scale example of the movie lamp, wasn't it quite a bit larger than that?

I haven't seen the movie for along time, I could be wrong.

As a side note, I just read somewhere that the kid (now, 'man') who starred in the film still has the prop BB gun and bunny suit from the movie.

Yes, the one I have is a table lamp like the one in the original post. They do make a full sized one, though, there is one that goes up every year at Christmas time in River Forest (a nearby community).

I have one of those. The best part is the fishnet stocking.

Peter Billingsley. He's a producer (and director -- "Couples Retreat") who works on a lot of Jon Favreau projects, incluning the "Iron Man" films.

I've never had the urge to get one. A replica of Charlie Brown's Christmas tree is more my thing. I have to get one one year.

Went to the Christmas Story house a couple of weeks ago in Cleveland. It was great!

Here is a picture of my son with the real leg lamp in the window of the real house:

It's a mousepad version of the Dude's rug from "The Big Lebowski". Say it with me - "It really ties the room together."
