Misheard lyrics in your own band.

Last night, a guitarist I know asked me about the lyrics in one of our band songs. He asked, "Is it 'Cause nobody serrate us. Annoy?'", which I thought was funny enough (it's "Nobody surrenders tonight"), but then he related this story:

"There's one song I play with these guys that sing in harmony. I wanted to add a third part and asked the drummer (harm vocal) what the lyric was because I couldn't understand it. He said "I dunno. I've always sang 'summon these, double dees' for that part." Hilarious!"

Cracked me up. Any of you not know the words to songs you have to sing?

We use to play several CCR song's. They all have a word or two nobody understands..........Green river was one of our best songs and I think I sang it wrong for 10 years.

I'd sing "take me back down where cool water flows y'all". I heard a guy sing "take me back down to Clearwater Florida" once.....But all that Cody's camp stuff is where I'd lose it........

Fogerty's a fan of his own misheard lyrics. I once saw him do Bad Moon Rising about ten years ago where during one chorus he slightly smiled and sang "There's a bathroom on the right".

My old singer - instead of "going down the old mine..."

sang it
"going down on the old man..."

He said that's how he'd always done it, and even after I pointed it out, it always cracked me up when he still did it that way about half the time.

Kind of changes the context a bit...

A friend of mine had problems with LaBamba so he just made up some total gibberish that sounded close phonetically.

He got away with it for about 10 years before someone called him out on it!

Tonight my drummer complimented me on my "Did you stick your hand into a box full of holes?" line. I almost didn't tell him the line is"... into a box marked 'for the poor". I had to though, his is better.
