It's time to confess (ntc, this is the problem)
A few nights ago I met John Scofield twice more (Thursday & Saturday). Not only he was the great gentleman he is, but also...
... this time let me plug his own guitar. That wasn't his main (sunburst) one, but his twin black back up (WHAT a back up Wow. Do you know that my-brain-is-totally-empty sensation? I got his axe and I literally didn't know WHAT to play. I simply pl-pl-pl-ugged some li-li-licks. Not enuf to let him understand I just PRETEND to play, but enuf to say that: - he uses a very low action - strings were Thomastick infeld 12's (I guess) flats, unwound 3rd (on the other axe he still uses rounds) - despite those thick strings, the perfect set up and the short scale made the guitar play buttah-like. If only I could play it... I mean seriously. Now, this episode generated a huge G.A.S. effect: since then, I want to buy an 335ish Ibanez: not definitely a John Scofield model (way too expensive) but a cheaper artcore, with a shorter scale etc. but on a lower price level. What an addiction, what can I do to reprime this urge? I thought I was an incorruptible tele fan, so proud of my sturdy guitar(s)... Help!

Same thing happened to me recently. I played one of Ronnie Earl's strats. Not the red 62' but his sunburst backup 64'. Had everything I didn't like; Rosewood board, Alder body, big fat neck, and 7.25 radius.
.....and I absolutely LOVED it. It played like a dream, and sang like a bird. Now I'm jonesing for a Strat, after playing Tele's all these years.
