Ronnie Earl's "Deep Pockets"...what a song.

Just killer phrasing and playing. Thought I'd pass this on.

Don't think I've heard that one yet, but if it's anything like his playing on The Duke meets the Earl with Ronnie and Duke Robillard, I'm sure it's just killer.

Just saw him play Friday 7/22 in Natick Ma. Great show.

"Deep Pockets" is on Colour Of Love.

About an year ago I went into a Ronnie Earl frenzy and grabbed everything I could. No doubt he's a great player, but I prefer his jazzier stuff like "Deep Pockets". My next CD consolidation project will be culling my favorites from his catalog. I'd really lke to know what kind of guitar he used on "Deep Pockets".

I've seen a picture of Ronnie with Duke and Ronnie has what appears to be a sunburst Gibson ES-5 or Switchmaster. Since I have not heard the song in question and he usually uses a strat, I may be all wet!

color of love

On the cd jacket for that CD, Ronnie's shown with a (gasp) Les Paul in his hands! I want to say that I read he got the LP as a gift from someone, but I can't recall for sure.

Whether he actually used the LP on that CD at all I don't know. He's such a strat-freak I can't imagine him recording with anything else!

I wouldn't argue with that of course, but on the Peace of Mind album art he's got a tele! You can see it better on the back cover--looks good on him too.
