I saw them at Earls Court in 75 and at Knebworth in 79.

Bonham was still alive, and they were pretty good then. 30 years later, on a retirement fund tour? I'll pass.

This.

I know that 99% of all concert films are touched and edited hard. But can well remember seeing The Song Remains The Same in the theater and thinking that the audio and film track were out of whack and blaming the theater. When the VHS came out, same thing. Serious? Guy strums guitar, no sound. Same guy has his pick hand in the air and guitar plays crazy riff by itself. The whole thing was like that. Then, if the film was 90min, 27min was a closeup of RP's junk. THAT was a blast from 8 rows back!

I won tickets for this gig - well, the code to order tickets - in the ballot.
I added up all the costs involved- the flights to London, the hotel, the time off work, and decided that it wasn't worth it to see 'Zep' in such a massive venue.
I have friends who made the journey (we're in the NE of Scotland) and saw some of their mobile footage. Glad I didn't go! They were so far back that they essentially watched the big screen the whole time. And Plant's voice just didn't cut it with Zep's high notes.

I saw the Page & Plant tour in the SECC in Glasgow in the mid 90s and although I really enjoyed seeing my 'heroes', Plant's voice was struggling even then. I didn't fancy seeing a more tired version over a decade later.

Expect this film to be overdubbed to hell!

Even though I'm a Zep fan I suspect this will be a snoozapalooza

Retirement fund tour? There is no tour. Their reunion show is simply being released in theaters and then on DVD.

Watch the song remains the same movie and realize they were supposed to be at the height of their powers and had the advantage of editing, you may not be so excited, I'd wait for blue ray on a big screen.

Some early tv appearances are pretty good though.

TSRTS isn't that good. Anyone who isn't familiar with them live should check out the HTWWW DVD as it contains footage from the Earl's Court shows.

It was the 2007 reunion gig I was referring to. Doh!

The cinema release of it will net LZ a few more million to keep them in geriatric luxury.

HTWWW...exactamundo!

However, there are some pearls in TSRTS, especially in the first half. You just have to wade through all the other crap.

p.s. Thanks for allowing me to pilfer your acronyms.

Thanks for pointing this out. I recently recorded it off Palladia, and I thought my DVR was acting up. Hmmmm.....
