Well I might be joining a tribute band.

A tribute band that pays tribute to THIS band...

Well after Slavantas folded it was kinda predictable that I would stay in the metal scene and frankly I LOVE Slayer, joining this band will mean a lot of live shows a lot of good fun and a good paycheck.

But it also means that I have to look out for a Floyd Rose equipped guitar.

I'll keep you guys informed.

Well you guys, it has been a couple of days since sending the mail to the people who are setting it all up and I'm beginning to get second thoughts.

First of all the "Tom Araya" of the band is the producer who did such a Mickey Mouse job on Slavantas' "Stand your ground" album and I known him for being quite a heavy drinker, he told me that he got sober though.

Second, I was send a list of songs they were going to do and so I started getting familiar with them and making serious efforts to learn them which is no easy feat. But the last couple of mails I've been getting are all about "What about this song instead of that song and what if we put in that song?" throwing my preparation off balance.

Third and probably the most important thing here, I don't feel comfortable playing that kind of stuff and being expected to know it by heart, tribute bands are very closely scrutinized at how well they perform the songs of the band they pay tribute to and I'm afraid that I simply won't cut it.

Perhaps this is a sign for me to persue other things, I loved writing the songs in Slavantas and I've expanded my playing vocabulary a lot with that band, I'm not sure if this will help my grow further as a player.

And today I walked into a music store where they had a beautiful snake skin covered Fender Blues Deluxe amp and I wondered how beautiful that thing would sound if I plugged my Jaguar into it and starting to play some Richard Thompson tunes...
