It is a pet hate of mine, that most people my age seem incapable of speaking or writing properly. Would it hurt so much to use the english language properly for a change? It's all abreviations and slang, I'm not saying my spelling is perfect, but for gods sake, get an education!
In England, alot of people pronounce words without important letters. The favourites seem to be H and T, it's infuriating. Here endeth the rant |

I hear you Telefreak.
Now, I have brother aged 16. Our mother can't believe what her 80s baby gets away with at school compared to her 70s babies! Seriously gramatically impaired, some of these young ones. I don't think they read quite as much as older people do. Real annoying is when you come across older people in business holding higher positions when clearly less literate than oneself! Pet hate! Cheers, Adam |

Time/Place
As an English teacher, I can sympathize with the concerns of those who want everyone to use a standard language. I rationalize the misuse of of language in many instances by looking at the intended audience and the type of message being delivered. I know that if my posts were scrutinized for grammatical perfection, I'd fail most of the time. I'd also quit posting on this board. But this is a Telecaster guitar board, and the message may be more important than the way it's presented.
I guess people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw too many stones. One of the posters on this thread abhors the misuse of language, yet upon cursory inspection, his post has at least eight basic errors that could be easily be fixed. But I understand his sentiment, and that's the main point. What I'm trying to say is that in the case of the TDPRI, while we should strive for accuracy and clarity, the information about guitars and music is more important than the way the information is written. This post undoubtedly has some errors, but I think you understand what I'm writing. Of course, this is just my humble opinion. Dean

spelling and education
In his excellent book:" The Real Frank Zappa" Mr. Zappa states that most intelligent thing a caring parent can do for their child is to get the child out
of "the system" as soon as possible.... The best thing that any parent could do for their kid(s) it to put in front of an education software package for their age group....These are much better than a classroom because the most IMPORTANT principle is adhered to: The kid learns at the kid's pace.....How many times have all us seen PMS QUEEN humilate a kid in a class because she didn't like the question ??......never to see the kid ask another ever again and withdraw.....well computer software is not like the battleaxe with the personality of Ilsa The Hag..... The moral: If you want smart kids who feel that anything is possible listen to what Frank Zappa said: Get 'em outta the mental gulag.
