My youngest is singing "Thriller" by Mike Jackson. He's a fantastic singer. I have to get him to learn some AKUS songs.

'The Downward Spiral' by Nine Inch Nails. Depressing, yes, but prettier and more complex than you think.

Good album. I've never considered The Downward Spiral to be depressing. Complex yes, but not depressing. Then again, I've been a huge fan of Joy Division's music for years which I consider to be introspective. People who don't understand the music are the ones who regard bands like Joy Division, Nine Inch Nails, or even The Cure and Depeche Mode as depressing.

I think a lot of how we perceive music depends on our mood when we hear it. Maybe 'dark' is a better adjective for NIN than 'depressing.'
I love Radiohead, for example, but my wife always says she finds them 'depressing,' and often makes me turn them off. I love Joy Division too. Yesterday I was listening to the Swans' cover of 'Love Will Tear Us Apart.' What a great song.

Warren Smith - "Uranium Rock"
I found this great collection yesterday "Roots of the Cramps" - 56 rare garage/rockabilly/protopunk cuts. $9 at Amazon downloads, $12 on iTunes. Cool stuff, most of which I didn't have
