...and the madness continues. This thread has gotten out-of-hand, I tell you. Lots of data but no information. It's like asking strangers on the street what size their shoes are.? It's like googling the word "the". It's like blindly throwing in all the ingredients of your cupboard into a boiling pot and stirring.

I'm watching and listening to Otis redding sing "Try A Little Tenderness" on the Stax concert in Norway DVD.
This song alone is more than worth the price.

Sick of Sarah
Yes, I'm posting about yet another "girl band". I'm a girl, what can I say. I recently discovered these 5 girls and at first I thought they were too young sounding. I have mentioned this sort of thing before, I no longer care about that...if some form of music gets to me, I don't care who it's targeted to, I'm gonna dig it and support it. Especially when they write their own stuff and play all the music, which is the case here. So, I kept listening and these girls are now my newest obsession. To me they sound like a perfect blend of Tegan & Sara and Sleater-Kinney. Most of the songs have a few guitar layers in there, not just banging out barre chords, which is the part that reminds me of Sleater-Kinney. But the songs are also totally pop and catchy sounding, which is part that reminds me of T&S (definitely the vocals remind me Tegan).
Here's their latest video, Bittersweet, for your viewing pleasure (or not... |

Spent all last night watching "NO DIRECTION HOME, BOB DYLAN" and loved it. They were really representing the telecasters when he went electric. So I'm listening to electric Dylan right now!

I could listen to that song for the rest of my life and not get tired of it.
Was Dream Theater Once in a Livetime (love that Petrucci solo.) Now it's Santana - Europa. Ok that just ended and now it's Santana - Blues for Salvador. |

It WAS the Doug Sahm tribute album, "Keep Your Soul" (right after Sonic Youth's new "The Eternal"), but now it's some Albert Ayler cds I picked up today ("Music Is the Healing Force of the Universe" and "Albert Ayler; The Impulse Story") . Damn, that man is intense, I mean inTENSE. I "got" Ornette Coleman pretty easily, but Ayler is altogether Other and "OUT" (as in "Dad, that cat is WAY out !!"), which have flat blown me away.

Right now, I'm listening to Curtis MAYFIELD/Live (1971)... Man, it's been years since I've put that record on the turntable for the first time, and it's still a pleasure to hear this! You can feel the guys playing, as if they are in your living room:intimate music, clean and clear sound, great songs...
