I don't think so... My own listening habits are not really centered on guitar players anymore. Recently, I've been listening to a lot of Oscar Peterson, and I really like Brian Wilson (and other vocal harmony stuff) Also, I love tunes by Gerswhin and Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, etc.

Although I'll always learn from other guitarists, I think I learn a lot from other musicians - especially pianists.

Having said all that, I'm just about to sit down and watch a video of a Danny Gatton gig

The Mavericks, "Trampoline"

Love those guys' chord progressions. The first time I hear one of their tunes, I always find myself asking, "Hey, is that a Beatles tune? Roy Orbison?"

Anyway, consistently cool stuff, and never-failingly tastacious guitar work from those dudes.

Wes Montgomery - "Smokin at the Half Note"
Mark O' Connor's Hot Swing Trio - "In Full Swing"
John Scofield - "That's What I Say"
Alvin Youngblood Heart - "Motivational Speaker"
Burning Water (Michael Landau's band)
Rodney Crowell - Fate's Right Hand
Joscho Stephan - Swinging Strings (Mind-blowing Gypsy Jazz)
Gerardo Nunez - Annando el Tiempo (Best Flamenco player I've ever heard)

I've seen some great stuff listed above, and I'm headed for the CD shelves to dig out a few I haven't heard in a while. Someone mentioned the Masters of Reality - "Sunrise on the Sufferbus" is a fantastic recording!

e-merlin, if you want to hear Mark May play a Tele, see if you can find his first CD, "Call on the Blues". After that one, he started using a variety of guitars. Last time I saw him, it was a McCarty.

*****in' Camaro, Fuzzy.

What a great record! Probably my favorite live album of all time. That first song "No Blues" slays me everytime.

Buck Owens

Howdy,

This thread was good enough to revive! I'm listen' to Buck Owens, which is refreshing after 30+ years of the Beatles/Rolling Stones and Chuck Berry.
Don Rich was a serious Tele-master. Buck's simple music from a simpler time puts me in a grinning mood, and the musicianship was first rate.

www.pandora.com "The Who Radio"

Oddly, it seems to be playing mostly American alt-pop-rock and alt-country, and very little of The Who.

This Right Not - Not Then's Right Now

This thread can be constantly recycled!

Big Zappa kick these past few days. The early Mothers stuff - Freak Out, Absolutely Free & We're Only In It For The Money.

Usually need to be in the right mood (esp. for Absolutely Free) but these have been working for me quite well lately.

AMAZING SOLO ALERT: Invocation & Ritual Dance of the Young Pumpkin (sic?). What a phenomenal guitarist FZ was!
