Saw my old guitar today

I was at a triathlon today and they had a live band playing after it was over. I recognized the lead guitarist as a guy that I studied with for a couple years in the late 90s. He was playing an MIA Lone Star Strat that I sold to him in '99. Man I hated that guitar, but he has traveled the world and made a lot of money with it, says it's his favorite guitar ever. Go figure.

I sold an 88 American Strat Standard to a guy in 1993... because I bought a brand new 93 Strat and "had no use for two Strats" (I've got five now).

Anyway, he still has it and has gigged it for all these years. He's had it refretted a few times and still loves it. Still 100% stock too (hardware/electronics). He lives in a different state, and I didn't know that he still had it until he looked me up on FB a while back. I asked about it, and he posted a picture of it. Amazing... I remember it being in brand new condition, so in my mind, that's what it should have looked like. Of course, it shows 20 years worth of use now.

I met my old guitar on the street last night
It seemed so glad to see me, I just smiled
And I played on it some old chords that fell sweet upon my ears
Still crazy after all these years, oh
Still crazy after all these years

Different strokes for different folks...one man's trasure is another's trash.

OK, enough of this. It works for him and didn't work for you. Simple.

I seem to only see my old guitars on craigslist. People are either flipping them for a quick profit or are like me and keep them for a year and want to move on to something else new.

There's nothing worse than seeing the guitar that got away. Glad this was a happy ending for you!

I bought back my '04 Epi Dot after a break of five years. Had an issue about the stock pickups and lipstick red color so I traded it for another guitar.

Fast forward 5 years--I walk into a local music store and there hangs a guitar that looks like my old Dot but with a vintage cherry color. It had the replacement nut I had installed and inside the body were some identifying marks I had done in the past.

The guitar had undergone fret level and crown and the pickups sound great. The former manager of the store had owned it and he spent some time getting it just right. And the color had aged perfectly.

I compared it with my current natural Dot and my old one was superior, So $100 and my natty Dot and my old guitar was mine.

It's a mini-triathlon, 1k swim, 40k bike, 10k run. Piece of cake, just something to do on Sunday morning before painting the house.

Oh, I'm glad I sold it, it wasn't working for me, it sounds great in his hands though.

No matter how hot she is, there's some guy somewhere who got tired of putting up with her.
