Another slight "WTH?" moment

Blues isn't as old as we all thought.

http://www.myfavouritemagazines.co.u...s-the-blues-2/

In fact, according to the vague copy in that ad, it didn't exist until after Robert Johnson's death. Who knew?

Coming next month, 'The Complete History of Jazz: 1947-2012'

Shouldn't that be "The Complete History of Jazz: 1947-1964"?

I could see stopping in the early 70s, maybe

Too much Lee Morgan awesomeness to stop at 64! (Among others, natch)

"Blues Magazine is a mix of old and new; cult and mainstream - and celebrates 75 years of great blues music. "

Maybe they just mean there hasn't been any great Blues since the '70s.

[edit]Jeez, I should have clicked "post" before getting sidetracked... but I guess Mal was talking about Jazz, so my comment still stands.

I don't know most of those names, but Joanne Shaw Taylor's good.

She was a local girl, before she moved to the States. She's back in town in October

But they didn't say it was GREAT blues on the CD - just the best young'uns we've got now. Maybe they're elitist jerkholes, but they're trying to be subtle about it.

I'm missing the many layers of subtlety in that ad aren't I?

*sigh* I'll never achieve my dream of being a copywriter

Maybe they were just talking about the history of recorded blues.

And they originally meant for that magazine to come out in 1995.

Plays a really good Telecaster, is a damn good singer with a fine voice and easy on the eye, too. What's not to love?!
