I remember seeing it on television. Couldn't see what the big deal was; the Jetsons were doing much cooler stuff than that.

After Neil Armstrong returned and the parades, interviews, and appearances ended, Neil went back to normal life..or did he?

Watching that was beyond cool.

I was between my junior and senior years in HS. The landing was the buzz of my AP chem and physics classes when we went back to school that fall.

Somehow, our chem teacher was able to get his hands on good color copies of photos taken on the surface. (He had some contact within NASA.)

Seems like only yesterday!

For you-young whippersnappers, they interrupted regularly scheduled programming for it!

A big deal it was...

I remember staying up with the family to see it on TV. Amazing stuff. It was a big deal when John Glenn orbited the Earth and within a few years, we were on the moon. Going to the moon was one of the greatest achievements ever. There is nothing cooler than space travel.

I was only five but I still remember the family gathering round the (black and white) TV to watch. We thought then that by 2012 we'd all be flying around on jetbikes!

I couldn't even begin to imagine what it would be like to visit the Moon. Not to mention knowing that it would be the act that would define you, and in some ways, be the pinnacle of your career.

Some more cool footage I hadn't seen before. Or, if I did, I was 2.

A group of us were standing round a portable radio out the back of the workshop when the foreman appeared. 'what are you lot doing"? "Bill, they're landing on the moon" " Yeah, well I got a breakdown that needs fixing so get back inside" He was an enlightened prat on his better days.

We were bowling in Somers Point N.J. to get out of the heat. They had live coverage on the black and white tv mounted on the wall. Amazing! I'll never forget it.
