Give a KId a Guitar.....continued..

A while back I put a guitar together out of parts that I had here for a friends son.. 19 or so...

He was moving to the city with his band ..Belligerent Goat..to give it a go... punk thrash sorta stuff, I guess.. he wanted HB's,,,, sure no problemo.
.I also threw in a strat mid in case he wanted that single tone at times,,

just got a link to the national unearthed punk charts on radio JJJ...

they lads have 2 tunes ...11th and 17th..

One of them, ACE..is near the top 10 spot.... he's using my guitar on this song..perhaps the other one too,,,
it's voted by listens online....as usual....
I'm not really asking for votes... I'm just stoked one of my creations is destroying the ears of a new generation of punks in my home town...

the guys are top bill on a 750 ticket gig tomorrow night at The Tempo club... cool

my first "cream top"..

give a kid a guitar......and look where they end up....playing some seedy punk dive down the strip...... ....

He'll never forget his Uncle Trev - it looks great - I bet he was thrilled when you gave it to him.

I rated both songs on the site - I assume that's how you vote?

I notice you can submit roots music - might have to submit a couple of songs myself.

Yeh, give it a go...

I saw the list of styles to enter... the J's get a good slice of the airwaves and it's good to support their cause...

another mates band . Xile Systems..had a metal song in last years run down...

rate or listen.. same I guess... thanks...

I was listening to the Saints when I was a teen at suburban gigs... Punk is alive and well in brisvegas it seems... it's nice to have a stake in it.. however remote....

I would have given him a tele and shown him Joe Strummer if he played in a punk band. That's just me. But humbuckers do it for thrash I guess. And the single may convert him.

You are very nice to provide a kid with a great guitar.

I gave him the choice of body style.... he wanted a HH strat...
.. though I had some spare guards with a middle PU hole,.. so I made it HSH.. with a good strat mid PU... the 'buckers are budget ebay "Valco's"? ...and nice solid pots and wiring, simple 5 way... I knew it might cop a beating and need to sound OK too...

he's getting better.. the clips didn't sound too bad ( I've heard worse, lol ) .. I'm not sure what gear he plays through.. I was trying to listen to the guitar in the mix..

if he asks me for another guitar I might steer him toward a Tele....;)

Nice, Trev! I just gave two guitars away last week to a friend's sons who were visiting. Twelve year old taught me a couple of Foo Fighters songs .

feels good eh.. seeing these young kids take it and run....good on ya JD..;)

the local guitar hero 12 yr old over the hill has one of my guitars and a few of his we've modded... he plays in the primary school rock band... he can do lead behind his head... they learn fast..

I make sure the cheap guitars he works through (and will pass on to other kids)..
will be set up well and playable.. straight necks, good pu's and electrics.. etc.... help him with an understanding of amps and stuff..

I think of it as an investment in Aussie guitar players of the future stocks...

who knows where they'll go in time...

I donated two cheapo electrics to the local high school, and also donated two drumsets to kids who wanted them and didn't have the $$. It's a good thing to do.

I enjoy giving away the things that I have no more use for. My niece is waiting on one of my guitars as soon as I get it setup for her.
