iTunes Won't Authorize Songs

OK I am officially annoyed. As mentioned in a previous thread, I purchased some Beach Boys stuff on iTunes. Two tracks had problems downloading. I researched what the cause could be, and the suggested fix was to temporarily turn off my Firewall, download, and put the Firewall back. I did this, the tunes downloaded but now they won't play. I keep getting a message to "authorize this computer" which I have done several times, following instructions again. It suggested I turn off my User Accounts function, restart, then turn it back on, restart again, and then go authorize the computer. Each time I do this, iTunes tell me "this computer is already authorized. So, why isn't it playing the tracks I PAID for??????????????????

I'm using a PC, Windows Vista version, and iTunes 10.6.3.25, which I'm assuming is the latest update, as I just did one the last time I signed on.

I never allow itunes to update, also have never bought anything from itunes. I have bought some mp3's from amazon and have never had a problem using them on itunes. Also any CD's I have ripped have no issues, and even some I had downloaded years ago using napster and limewire have no issues whatsoever. I know I didn't answer your question, but there are alternatives to itunes.

Folks, thank you for reminding me, one more time, why I stay away from iTunes.

And you use.?????

To the OP, have you tried deleting the songs and redownloading them?
Don't know about songs, I don't buy them from iTunes, but for apps, apple (iTunes ) kows you paid for them and allows you to redownload

iTunes and updates basically bricked some of our older PC's in our house--which were prefectly servicable internet devices before the iTunes problems. But ultimately I appreciated it because it forced me to get off my lazy backside and install Linux--and yes, Rhythmbox does sync into iPods. Certainly not as seamlessly as iTunes on a Mac, but to avoid iTunes AND Windows...a real blessing in disguise. Thanks, Steve Jobs! RIP.

I really don't like that you can only authorize 5 computers for one account.

How many computers do you have?
By the way, if at all possible, go to your local apple store and get your questions answered
.
I remember asking about this computer authorization

I don't have an iAnything but my dad has an iEveryDeviceEverMade so I've had to learn a little about them. The biggest problem that he has is with Apple IDs. He'll have trouble logging in for one reason or another so he'll just create a new ID which causes new problems. The computer can be authorized for one account but not another. I've even had to figure out the iCloud.

Well it's like my sister in law, they have 2 iPhones and one iPod touch, and they "sync" their devices on the same computer and keep wiping them clean , then she asks me how to do it, and I have no clue,I have an iPhone, ipod touch and iPad but never ever sync, and have no problems. As for the apple id, just takes word or notepad document, write it down, call it appleid. That's why computers were created

I've never quite figured out why anyone synchs. The only time I hit the button by mistake it messed up things so bad I now avoid it like a plauge infested rat.

Hmm...I've done the restart a few times, but haven't tried deleting and re-downloading again. I will try that and report back. I got myself caught with another daunting task the last few hours...getting old paperwork in order and tossing stuff that can be shredded. I'm beat and hungry now, want nothing more that to grab some food and watch some mindless TV for a bit!

Much to my dismay, the tracks wont even play on my iPod. It loaded them on there, but it just skips to the next track.

Sounds like a corrupted file. Probably have to download them again. I've never had this happen with iTunes, but I've had a ton of it with other mp3's I've ripped.
