Saw CSN Last Night!

I was in Atlanta last night for the CSN concert. Phenomenal!

Steven Stills looks great – slim, trim and in shape. He used a Bassman, a Vibrolux (both tweed and apparently vintage), 3 maple necked Strats, a White Falcon, a 0-45 and a D-45. His leads were literally amazing and they were followed up with repeated standing ovations. At times, it seemed as if his guitar would burst into flames. His singing was excellent too, and he hit the super high note (the word, “heart”) in “Judy Blue Eyes” like it was effortless.

Graham Nash played an Esquire and rotated between a few Martin acoustics. He was booed for a wikileaks comments, but otherwise engaged the audience many times, and was applauded each time he spoke.

David Crosby has also slimmed way down, and amazed the audience with the clarity and dead-on accuracy of his voice, and with his ability to hold a note until it became spellbinding - which also resulted in standing ovations.

These guys have aged and are around 70, but it was an incredibly high-energy performance. They played and sang like they did 35 years ago. Lots of their old standards and a few from their forthcoming album, all with perfection, all with the same remarkable, mind-blowing harmony from the old days.

If you can catch their tour, it’s definitely worth it! I'll get their new album too!

Yep...... Stephen Stills is in a good zone now. Singing better, looking better and especially playing better. Joe Walsh is doing much better also. Really pleased to see both doing so well now. They are my guitar gods........

Thanks for the post. My wife and I are big fans and this give us another reason to see them if they come to OK.

I know some people don't like it when they get politics mixed in with their classic rock, but I would be almost disappointed if I went to see CSN and didn't get a little bit of that in the mix. That's so much a part of who they are. Plus,Graham Nash seems like such a sweetheart, I can't imagine booing him for any reason.

They played here in a little venue by the river. A friend worked the show and told me that apparently Crosby was a little miffed at the size of said venue, 'the stage at woodstock was bigger than this whole place'. They were awesome, Stills had all the gear you mentioned and sounded great. Crosby was playing a Tom Anderson strat.

Glad to hear they are still rocking well. I saw them several years ago at MSG with Young and they were just unstoppable. Stills running around barefoot, everyone else on time, in tune, and on pitch. They played for about an hour and a half, took a 15 minute break and then came back on for another hour. Was a great show.

Sounds great. I saw them about 6 years ago at the Greek, and they sounded excellent back then. Yes, they just had to toss in some cheap political snipes, but they are CSN after all. Good to hear they're doing well.

BTW, that's one thing I admired about Willie Nelson last Friday: just played a great set, with no politics, even though we all know he's very active.

CSN are an American Treasure.

Love 'em. I've seen them live (with and without Young) at least 15 times.

I'm glad you had a great time.

I'll never forget the Living With War Tour. They started the show by asking all the veterans to stand. They said thank you and everyone cheered. Neil Young said thank you, we love and respect you, we are your family. Teenagers were hugging old men who were in tears.

How cool is that? There were 24,000 people at that show.

Respect where respect is due. Pretty nice.

Yep. That's exactly how I view them too.

I was really glad I had the chance to see them last night, and what made it especially cool was that my sweetie surprised me with the tickets! She enjoyed the concert as much as I did.

Stephen Stills has been my guitar hero since their first album, and I think I have every CSN album, and all of his solo stuff. Amazing music for sure!

An article about him and his guitars – this one or one similar to it -

http://www.4waysite.com/articles/guitarplayer76.htm

really helped fuel my interest in guitars.

Their new album will be released next month, and it's supposed to include a DVD.

Glad to hear Stills got his singing back on track. I've seen them a few times, but the last time (last year) his voice was hurting a little. Crosby sounded absolutely amazing last year, best I've ever seen his perform.

I saw Stephen with the Buffalo Springfield in June 2011 in Oakland and he looked strong, sounded great.

Glad to hear they were good. I wanted to break away and go see 'em in Chattanooga, but I had guests coming to The Cabin in the next day and it is 100 miles from the venue to where I stay. And I notice, when you drive a long way after a show, you do not remember the show in the same level of detail (because the brain is busy driving instead of storing memory).

At least I got to hear a whole passel of CSN and CSNY songs on WUTC aforehand.

Wha?,... no prominent Tele?

Seen them many times, a few times with Mr. Young. Great shows!

CSN, when they are on, are unparalleled. Vocally and musically they have few peers. When they are kinda off, still an entertaining show and not without its musical highlights.

Saw a youTube clip of Stephen at Variety Playhouse in ATL last Oct I think it was, wow,...simply memorizing.

I watched a documentary on CSNY this past weekend. I've never had the opportunity to see them (either CSN or CSNY) live but I would love to do that!

Sounds like a great show! Please tell me nobody stood up and ruined the concert though. (reference to another thread)

This show at the Riverside in Milwaukee was just weeks after the David Crosby Signature D18-12 came out. It was neat to see David play his second signature Martin.....

I'm such a fan-geek that I have the store poster framed....

And here's me and my wife and Uncle David after the show......

David is one of my role models.

Graham Nash once told me....."Please keep your fingers away from Mr. Crosby's mouth when he's eating"

I love those guys.

Saw CSNY a couple years ago.

They did a 3 hour show awesome one of the best concerts Ive seen.

Crosby mesmerized the audience when they did Almost cut my hair and Guinnevere.
