Yeah.
And also, if a Dubstep artist gets, oh I don't know, ran over by a train, let me just say that it wouldn't be the end of the world for me...........same goes for most modern pop artists........... |

I've always wondered why so many people think a singer shouldn't use auto-tune, but it's perfectly OK for a guitarist to have a pedalboard with every concievable effect on it.
I'm serious, this I just don't get.

Seems to me like auto-tune is cheating. I also do not favor steroids or other performance enhancing drugs for athletes. I work with a guy who used steroids when he was a body builder. he now says it was a huge mistake because it has negatively impacted his health later in life. he says absolutely not worth it. |

It might make me an old fart remembering it being played alongside Bashment and Jungle in London clubs a decade ago, but don't discount it because some tweens found out about it and ruined it.

since we are doing the a fortiori thing... and using wacky analogies... here is mine...
Why? Why all the sturm and drang around auto tune? Let us take a ride out on the range toward the land of breasts... A woman with beautiful breasts (or a man, I'm not gonna discriminate here!) but, you have a woman who (in clothing, of course) has beautiful breasts.. visually appealing and wonderful to behold (not sexually but as more like living art lets say) Does it matter whether they are 'natural' or if they are implants? Now, (and this is fair) there is more to a breast than visual appeal, but, isn't the judgement about attractive, useful and enjoyable utterly subjective? What may seem hideous to us (some of the national geographic pics we ogled as a point of last resort in our youth) is probably beautiful to someone else (the rest of their family) So, we get choices... we can get breast implants (or our significant others can and other family members) or not... we can behold beautiful breasts (natural or not) and know that people are interested and concerned about pleasing and entertaining us (and demonstrate it by undergoing expensive and often painful treatment to realize it) So, autotune is like breast implants. They do not interfere with folks who go the 'natural' route, but, they enable more people to have breasts that they like and must have some appeal (based on how many procedures are done each year, the feedback for those with breast implants must be huge and postive, pointing them to supporting their decisions to extend and uplift their appearance.) Autotune is just like that... take a performance that may be sagging a bit, droopy, tuckered out, a little flat... and perk it up... for the average listener they hear a pert and perky performance when what they would have had would have disappointed even made sad or difficult to live with... to autotune or not autotune, that is the question... as for steroids, I wonder of the correlation to people who would deny an athlete steroids who would also deny themselves 'male supplements'. and the correlation of men who scoff at 'male supplements' who have significant others who share their views!
