Recommend a good 'off the beaten path' film
I'm not talking about classics such as Gone With The Wind or Dumb and Dumber...
But what's a movie that in your opinion, deserves more praise and recognition than it's received? I've got one I'll save for later...

"Polyester", staring Divine, in 'smello-rama'. A cult classic comedy.

i'll +1 if he hasn't seen it already.
I like a lot of the old classics. Sunset Boulevard used to be a huge fav. Rushmore by Wes Anderson; killer soundtrack too.

That's funny... I started watching this last night. I fell asleep right at the beginning, but that was the plan from the very start. It looked very promising. I'll try again tonight and attempt to watch it at a more reasonable time.

These might be too mainstream but when have you last watched all of Fargo or Repo Man?

Memento
From Wikipedia... Memento is a 2000 American psychological thriller and neo-noir film written and directed by Christopher Nolan, adapted from his younger brother Jonathan's short story, Memento Mori. Memento is presented as two different sequences of scenes: a series in black-and-white that are shown chronologically, and a series of color sequences shown in reverse order. The two sequences "meet" at the end of the film, producing one common story I watched it several times, and I still don't think I ever figured it out. And check out the DVD extras, like the press releases, but only after you watch the movie. And also, don't cheat by researching the movie before watching. There's a lot of analysis and even someone who re-edited everything so it runs in chronological order. Also, it was a blast watching with my wife, as we had a running contest each time they switched sequences as to what was really happening - and most of the time we were both wrong. Cheers, Doug |
