Buddy Guy Autobiograph -- When I Left Home: My Story

For Fathers Day my wife got me the new Buddy Guy book When I Left Home: My Story. We've both read it now and really enjoyed learning about the amazing life that Buddy Guy has lived.

Born in the poorest of poor sharecropping families in Louisiana, learning to play Boogie Chillun on a 2 string guitar, making his way to Chicago and nearly freezing and starving to death, and on the day he was about to call his daddy for money to get back home, Mud helps him out. How he got his first Strat. Its all an amazing tale, a good read, very entertaining, and so much history this man has seen and lived.

Highly recommended.

Thanks for the personal opinion on it. I'll have to pick it up!

That looks good. I enjoyed the B.B. King autobiography that came out years ago. I will need to check this one out as well. I also need to read Clapton's as well.

The Clapton autobiography is also outstanding. I've also recently read Keith Richard's Life and the Ron Wood book too. I need to get the B.B. King book.

You'll love the Buddy Guy story. All his career Leondard Chess treated him like a studio musician, never recorded him as a lead front man... till it was too late. Great stories, have fun.
