Who (here in the USA) has to work today?
Well happy 4th to you! I work in a hospital so we're never closed. (I don't mind, I'm still in 'Glad to have a job'mode) I just want to say a big "Thank You" to all the cops, firefighters, military people and anybody else on the job today. Oh yeah, and for all the people who're off and having fun, drink lots of water and stay cool so I have more time to look at TDPRI instead of CT- scanning drunk dehydrated people tonight. Thanks!

I worked in retail for years and always worked all holidays, not anymore. I'm off today! Happy 4th!

I'm only off because my scheduled.day off falls today. I'm a supervisor in a plant that runs 24-7, so I'm used to working weekends, Christmas, Thanksgiving... it really makes you appreciate having those days with your family.

Not actually go in but don't we all work all the time now? I checked emails several times.
We Americans get way too few public or personal vacation days.

First time in several years I have not been scheduled for a sound gig on the 4th. With it being mid week and a lot of people having to work Thursday and Friday, this holiday is more subdued.
That and the record heat. Burn bans are in effect all over northern Indiana so no fireworks or camp fires. The school fields(baseball, American football, soccer) across from me usually has a crowd to watch fireworks, but it is empty this year.

Hi Brandon,
Even though I work for the County EMS agency now and not a provider, I keep my medic license current. Been in EMS for 23 years now. Be safe today, and hope you have a good shift! the 4th was always drowning day around here, Thanksgiving was burn day (deep pit turkey gone wrong),Christmas was "EMD" Early Morning Discoveries. (dating myself as this was what PEA was called). Back on topic, not working for pay today, but installed fixtures for 2 sinks, connected waste water to both, put in a slide in Range, and an air switch for the garbage disposal. Cant wait to go back to my desk job tomorrow! |

Working at home on a current project. Wife is just out of the hospital and resting so no real holiday plans anyway. Normally I would not be working, but there were times in the past when most days were work days. I believe its in our history and culture to place a high priority on work. Much more so than many other countries (except those in survival mode).

Spent most of the morning moving water around the field, but I was done by 11:00, so not much work. If you work in agriculture you never really get a day off, just some days that are less busy than others.

Working, earlier and now. I am a real estate appraiser and I work from home. It NEVER really stops...
