Cancer survivor at 32

So ,
A few months ago I found a lump in my throat. A specialist found it to be severe thyroid cancer. He removed it, some lymph nodes, and a little tissue.

Good news, he thinks he got everything and I have no muscle or nerve issues. I have just been at home the last two weeks recovering. I can still play guitar and hope to return to work next week!

Also, the wife let me buy a CV in BSB today to add to my already too large collection.

Kind of a radical way to get yer missus to let ya get a new axe, doncha' think?

Glad to hear your on the mend. My Mom got thyroid cancer in 1960, had her thyroid out, and except for the scar (which was called the Elizabeth Taylor scar, cuz Liz Taylor had had an emergency trchaeomoty or somthing that left a scar), Mom was fine for many, many years. She had to take thyroid pills and calcuim supplements, but no big deal. I'm not sure men even have to take the supplements.

Congrats on beating it, and thanks for sharing the good news with us.

Congratulations on beating it. I'm 32. Hits a little close to home.

But hey, new CV. That's awesome.

I gotta make a doctor's appointment.

I am so glad you whipped it's "donkey".
I have a friend who plays steel and he had the same thing at 19. He has never had another problem since. Takes meds but that's it.

Really happy for you. Congrats.

I' m sure everything will be fine. You know the doctors will keep on top of it. My nice just had niece some radiation treatment for thyroid cancer everything seems to be fine. My son (17) just had a ultrasound for a lump on his throat at this point they don't suspect anything but will check it out again in 3 months. Myself I have had bladder cancer 3 times the in the last 6 years, they found it pretty early I pead blood one day . Just stay positive these sort of things can be scary that's just human nature. I hardly ever even think about it anymore I just go in for a bladder inspection every 3 months.

Here is hoping that you make past the 5 year mark of being Cancer Free. So that you can enjoy that guitar.

Our secretary is a Thyroid Cancer survivor. She had it 15 years ago and is cancer free to this day, still plays in a softball league, and is turning 50 this year.

Rock on dude!

My situation's not nearly as severe as yours. Thoughts and prayers your way! All I had was shoulder surgery...sheesh. Not being able to play much for 7 months, I'm itching to get through rehab and just be able to pick the thing up. Glad all went well and congrats on the new axe

I can play now, just have to play sitting down due to the lymph nodes taken out of my shoulder and the scar on my neck.

No, I was lucky that my voice did not change. Since some of it had spread, my dr spent 6 hours making sure he got it all, but did not remove anything unneeded.
