A Youtube comment that moved me......

I've been posting demo videos on youtube for a while now. I'll admit that I'm a basic "Meat & Potato" kinda player. I'm no shredder and I don't know one scale, but I can play a G,C, and D chord with the best of them. Most of the comments that I get are of people just trying to be nice and some (most) are just mean ("I didn't know Blacks play Metal"), but this one meant a lot to me....................

"i remember seeing this video when i first started playing guitar 5 years ago...i just came back to say that you've influenced my strat metal playing (80s metal on a strat is amazing)"

I can't believe I could influence anyone, but what a nice thing to say, made my day/week/year

Awesome! I'm surprised you don't know a scale though - it's easier than playing chords! :P Link to said video? :)

It feels good to help people out. I've been on youtube for years as well and despite the negative comments some of the positive ones really made you feel great.

You should have linked the "black playing metal" guy to a Vanilla Ice video. He would have stroked out!

i think the (ahem) singer turned into a tv star.

bass player mooseman lloyd roberts did an album and tour with iggy, before being shot in a random drive by.

another tune, lyrically interesting

Jerks are a dime a dozen especially on the internet. One reason I continue to hang around here is that they're policed outta here pretty quickly, and it's a unique forum for it. Anyway, the fact that you positively influenced someone to the extent that he was motivated to post a message saying "thanks" should overcome about 3 dozen jerkoff messages from fools who will probably never do anything constructive in their entire lives.

Enjoyed the shred. You made it look easy. Sign of a master.

Thanks for sharing the good news, telefunken.

TFunk, I've always dug your demos. Kudos to the compliment, that's real nice.

I love Youtube, but go out of my way to not read the comments

Good stuff - the only thing I can think of offhand that would make that MORE metal would be to do it on a Hello Kitty Telecaster. [edit: Which I just remembered they didn't actually make, but I saw a few mockups that made me want one]

Also... "No harm done, I've been Black for a while now..."

I L'edOL.

Well played - I'm not much of a metal fan - but tight playing is tight playing.
