I thought this film was a serious pile of ****e!

First 40 mins were good and actually quite plausible...after that...a load of wank

Lots of irrational thinking in the plot, I did enjoy it though. Could have been written better.

By comparison, I watched contact (1997!) again last week and it is still a superior movie. Sci fi is the hardest genre to do well, maybe (just like action movies) we need Asian directors to take the lead and re-invent the wheel for a while.

Yes, excellent special effects, but there were several WTF moments with what was going on.

the opening credits and first scene were perfect, epic, terrifying, etc. the first half was mysterious, gratifying and enjoyable. after that it took a nosedive and became a ridiculous, brainless action movie.

this will make filmies mad, but it did the same thing blade runner did; only bladerunner frustrated me in its hollywood-cliche only in the last 15 minutes whereas prometheus frustrated for over an hour.

overall it was a great/terrible movie. . .kinda like "sunshine" too. . .hell, three sci-fi would-be classics ruined by monsters

I misread the title as Promiscuous and thought it was going to be a movie about Charlize Theron picking up guys.

That was the original screenplay. The rewrites ruined it.

I don't care how good or bad the movie is. I'm going to see it.

I kept looking at my watch 30 minutes into it, and I wish I had just gone ahead and walked out. Another epic trailer followed up with a crappy movie.

Maybe it's aimed at 15-yr-olds.

I loved the movie for what it was, and brainless it most certainly wasn't. Just my opinion of course.

Lol sorry guys for making this thread. I do agree though that plot is irrational at times but the suspense factor was great.

I was looking forward to it, but thought it was a let down. Cool visually, but things went way downhill after the giant sandstorm. The self performed caesarean section was pretty cool though. The alien at the end was gratuitous stupid. Guess I have to watch the original tonite.

I watched the original recently. Like most Ridley Scott movies, it's very slow. Given the length of the movie, not that much happens.

I also watched most of "Aliens" recently. I really liked it back in the day, but it's got the typical James Cameron cardboard cut-out characters and cheeseball dialog.

I'm glad I can go to a movie without expectations, be in the present tense and allow myself to be entertained.

That said, I'm looking forward to the experience. I plan on spending the extra bucks for the 3D eye candy.

Enjoyed the film. I think it left you with loads more questions than it gave you answers. It left you with lots to think about after the credits rolled.

The public in general don't like to be made to think which is why you'll see plenty of bad reviews about this movie.

Those people would be better being spoon-fed a film like 'the expendables 2', then they could come out gurning "Five Stars, best film evah!"
