The EURO 2012 Discussion Thread

Poland and Greece kick off in a little more than an hour from now.

Any thoughts or predictions on who will win this time around?

I'd really like to see the Netherlands take it, but I don't think they have a strong enough team at the moment.

Personally I think Germany has the best chance of winning the tournament.

What do you all think?

My money's on Germany to nick it from Spain in the final, though I think the Netherlands will have a good run, too.

Looking forward to this tournament, I think Euro 2008 was the best finals tournament in my lifetime in terms of pure quality...

Two red cards (well, one yellow-red) and a surprising tie between Poland and Greece. Who would have thought?

Being German, I sure do hope that they will go a long way, but am not sure that they will ... if they survive the group of death anything is possible.

I may go down to the Portuguese pub tomorrow to watch the first game ;-)

Germany, France, Holland, Spain seem best bets for last four. Germany to win from Spain.

I feel so sorry for Roy Hodgson. First tournament and almost everyone is crocked.

English expecation at an all time low. Hmmm . . .

Poland was like fireworks for the first 20 min. ... After that it was so-so.

Great penalty save from the reserve goalkeeper.

Roy Hodgson's problem is that the majority of English players and fans wanted Harry Redknapp managing the team. Roy was beat before he ever started... and all this BS with Ferdinand is just making matters worse. The team is a bunch of primadonnas... they won't get past the group stage... Ray will get all the blame... and he won't be around long enough to start World Cup qualifiers. The writing is on the wall.

England already has their excuse for losing all worked out.

My thoughts exactly - I'm English too.

Germany will be tough to beat. I think the team is maturing at just the right time.

Not so. Nobody I've talked to wanted Harry Redknapp. The press did, he's got lots of friends in the press because he plays their game, keeps them in the know all the time. But just because they write articles saying Harry is the people's choice doesn't mean it's true.
Did you see the media frenzy when Hodgson was appointed? They couldn't wait to stick the knives into him. They're holding back a bit at the moment because he won his first two matches but wait for England to lose. The whole shooting match will start up again
