My email is totally swamped

My email has been completely taken over by a tsunami of penis enlargement ads. I may get 4 to 10 legitimate emails from friends or family or businesses that I deal with. But I also get 25 to 40 emails a day about penis enlargement. I am tempted to just abandon the account and start anew, but I have had that email address for at least 15 years. Companies like EBay, Amazon, Paypal---the list goes on, have that email address as my main contact, so I hate to give it up. Any suggestions about how to fight the spam?

look at less porn. (for awhile)
mark the email as spam and it will get blocked and routed to your junk folder.

I don't turn on my computer as often as I used to. Most often I use an IPad or my cellphone to view my emails or surf the Internet. These don't give me the option to mark as spam, at least I don't think they do. But even when I do use my computer, marking an email as spam doesn't seem to help.

Junk it instead of simply deleting it, if you aren't already. Or get a new e-mail address!

See if you can block/unsubscribe to those senders.

There are spam blocking options with most commercial anti-virus software and many of the packaged ISP's like comcast, att, earthlink etc. do spam blocking.

Like the others mentioned, log on with a regular pc and go through and mark the suspect emails as spam. Eventually, most of those kinds of email will simply end up in the junk/spam folder.

I did some online research. Apparently, lots of people are being swamped and overwhelmed with junk email. There are spam filters available for IPads and cellphones for a monthly subscription, but I don't want to pay. I just read that if I link my regular email account to a gmail account, I can use Googles spam filter for free. Not sure how that works, but I am about to find out.

It's a lot wprse if you own ypur own domain. I figure that I'm about 100 to 1 ratio. Blocking senders doesn't work, because the spammers change their addresses.

Gmail webmail (free) has a good content-based spam filter.

me too.

I can't remember the last time I saw a spam message make it to my inbox. Months ago I would guess, and it was just one. Kind of unnerving when you aren't used to seeing them flood in every day.

I just found a link to a program called Mail Washer. It is totally free and seems quite promising. I think it will be my solution to this spam none sense.

Go ahead with the enlargement. They will eventually tire of preaching to the choir...

If your "regular email account" has a web interface, you can probably set it up to forward all email to your gmail account. You'll then have to read everything in the gmail interface, but gmail's excellent spam filter will also work its wonders on everything.
