Uh... you mean they make pants out of something other than denim? But, why?

In Florida, it's shorts, t-shirt and flip-flops (often in winter even). Winter, t-shirt, flannel shirt or long sleeved shirt (untucked, unbuttoned) and sneakers. A little more formal is a button collar/polo shirt, blue jeans and boat shoes.

Summer: Hawaiian shirts, shorts, sneakers/flip-flops.
Cooler summer days: Hawaiian shirts over a t-shirt, (Wrangler) boot jeans, cowboy boots.
Spring/fall: Denim shirt over a t-shirt, jeans and cowboy boots. Carhartt ranch coat.
Winter: Same as spring/fall but double-breasted wool, pea-jacket with a hoody underneath the jacket on real cold days.

When I step on stage, I dress like me, not somebody else. T-shirts, jeans and Larry Mahan Roper boots are what I wear. All the time. All year long. On stage or off.

Our winters are moderate here, so a lot of times my winter shirt is still a T-shirt, maybe with a flannel shirt (unbuttoned, untucked) over it. Or maybe a long-sleeved, pearl snap Stetson western shirt. With jeans and boots.

Unlike some on this forum, I'm not going to tell others that they have to do it my way or they're doing it wrong. To illustrate my point, consider Marty Stuart and the Fabulous Superlatives.

They dress up in sequined suits for their weekly show. I've seen pics of them in jeans and denim shirts and the like in the studio, but on the show, it's different. I wouldn't do that personally. You'll never catch me in a suit, and under no circumstances wearing a necktie. But it doesn't bother me at all that they do. I really admire those guys, but for their playing and their integrity, not for their clothes. For me, their clothes neither add to nor detract from their performance.

So, when you step on stage, dress the way you want. Makes me no nevermind. But when I step on stage, guess what I'll be wearing? The very same thing I'll be wearing any other day of the week. I see no reason to dress like someone else just so I can play guitar and sing.

And don't tell me I gotta do different, 'cuz I ain't gonna. Period. End of discussion.

Wow!, I've got one of those old, 1-pocket Levi's 506 blouses with a buckle in the back! I've grown out of it many years ago though ...

I always wear Wrangler denim jeans (blue, brown, tan, gray), western shirt (the occasional T), western boots and a western hat (Stetson, Bailey's, Beaver Brand, Resistol), either felt or straw. I also always wear a carved belt and a large rodeo type buckle.

I mostly wear denim jackets or a leather vest (tan or brown).

In the winter I often use hiking boots and a Marlboro type barn coat, sometimes a long coat.

Lastly, I like your post LGOberean!

Thanks...and just call me Larry.

As far as brand of jeans goes, I'm not that particular. In all honesty, 9 times out of 4, my wife buys 'em, and she usually gets whatever is on sale.

My boots are always Larry Mahan Roper boots. I have two pair right now; brown ones for everyday wear (4 years old, and good and broke in); black ones for my Sunday-go-to-meetin' boots.

I had a denim jacket that I just loved, wore it for years and just flat wore it out. I wanted to get another one, but my daughter got me a suede one for Christmas a couple of years back, and I'm not going to let it go to waste. Our winters are generally so mild here in South Texas that I don't have much call for one anyway, and besides, I like the suede one well enough.

I never took up leather carving myself. My hobby has always been guitar. But my best friend does a fantastic job of carving leather belts and guitar straps for me. But he moved out of town a few years back, and I've worn out the last belt he carved for me.

I've worn out my favorite hat, too. Mostly, I go without one, or a ball cap. But I'd like to get another straw hat for out in the sun.

Gee, you've made me realize what's missing in my wardrobe lately. Gotta go to Cavender's.

Sorry, Larry ............ but those shots from your youth do have a habit of coming back to haunt you, don't they!?

Way to get in character for a Judas Priest gig, btw.

Working men wear jeans but when I'm not on the job, it's silk pajamas and an ascot.

THAT had been my 'uniform' since the late 50's.
My wife HATES the 'look', and has been bitchin' about it for 40 years.

She's gonna bury me in a suit and tie.....just to spite me!?

I wear painter's coveralls most days.

Pretty weird - a bunch of guys talking about the clothes they wear. Sounds like some kinda girly party....
