Two things guitarists say that outside of guitar speak are totally unacceptable:
1) *** (short for Japan)
2) Blackface

I would nominate whatever was said to the guy that said this, that this was a response to.

I overheard a guitarist in a music store asking about an "equametric paralyzer."

Me too. I play by ear, I play what I feel, and I have no idea what a minor pentathingy scale is.

That's the great thing about the guitar. You can sound pretty good without knowing a damn thing about anything and caring even less.

"Transparent overdrive"

"Harmonic content"

"Oh.. it's Mexican.. I see.."

"The Classic Vibes are as good as any American Fenders"

"The Classic Vibes are pieces of $**t"

"What cables are you using?" (Guilty but I'm an audiophile first, guitarist second. )

"Tone suck"

"I don't understand relics, I wouldn't pay extra to have my car smashed up"

"Nitro allows the wood to breath"

"True bypass?"

"The reissues suck, they ran out of the original chips"

"Tone is in the fingers"

The list goes on..

We're a weird bunch aren't we?

Oh yeah, I love when I hear "harmonic content" and I love when I hear people dismiss pedals after they find out they're not "true bypass."

I find you have to dial in a pedal just right to really hear the true bypass kick in.

Lead is a dangerous material to be making guitars out of, maybe you should try graphite instead?
