Dog the Bounty Hunter

I know this show's been around for some time, but I'm only just getting into it now. I'm not a big fan of reality type shows, but my roomie is...so I have been subjected to a wide array in the last year. For the most part, I accept that it's just mindless entertainment, somewhat steered by the editors to create drama/intrigue and whatnot into each episode. However, I have to say, Dog and his family seem to be sincere in all they do. It's not just about finding the dude who missed his court date so they can rack up the bucks, they also offer them advice, opinions, inspiration, and maybe just a shoulder to cry on. Who's to say how many of them actually turned their lives around thanks to Dog and his family, but I'm sure there could be a few. And even if it's less than the amount of people they've turned in over the years, at least that's a few less turning back to drugs or crime.

EDIT - Just as I posted this, I did a quick search and sadly found out that it's being canceled after this season. Bummer.

Any other watchers on here?

he's gotta be the toughest 5'6" guy next to Angus Young!

His problems and his family problems are enough to make me a little wary of the whole shebang... I think the whole story doesn't make it to screen and that business is a rough way to make a living... I've watched the show a few times and see most of it as pretty self congratulatory... but, it is entertainment.. and it has worked for lots of folks.. so, more power to 'dog'!

My wife and I are big Dog fans...although I have yet to figure out why. I think it's becaus ethey come across as just good people...tough but fair. The world needs a little more of their honesty and compassion. I know that most of what we see is played for the cameras and in real life they may or may not be the same characters, but what is portrayed is just people being good and respectful and helpful to each other.

Good riddance to that show.
Couldn't happen sooner.

Yeah I was a bit saddened when I did the search and read the info on the family drama. I think I was better off not knowing and just enjoying the show.

Sometimes (many times) ignorance is bliss.

Fender Modding Wars or Les Paul Headstock Restoration and I'll watch it. Bound to be better than Mountain Men coming this fall.

It was good run. Sad that it's going to end, but oh well.

Other than the fact that he's a lowlife racist he seems like a great guy.

Yeah I can't say I know much about Dog besides his bio and family issues. I watch the show and enjoy it somewhat but consider it entertainment & nothing more.

History channel's showing specials about aliens in history, should give you an idea how much these TV producers value any type of truth

Yea, can you imagine how cool it would be if the "History Channel" actually showed, you know, like, actual history!

LOL!

A former band I was in dressed up as Dog and his crew for Halloween one year. They made me dress up as Beth! (I am a dude, btw.) I got a lot of weird looks in Kmart the day before when I asked a sales clerk for a blonde wig the biggest bra that they had!

"Dog" and "Boomhauer" from "King of the Hill" are my 2 fave characters on the tele.

BTW: I had read that the A&E channel had wanted to change the
name of the show to: "Dog the Brawny Hunter"

(gotta buy me a Dog t-shirt!!)
