CELL PHONE "HIDDEN"/UNDERHANDED CHARGES
Insert rant: Today when I opened my cell phone bill (I won't name the company), there was a charge for text messaging which I have blocked. Over the last three years I have had a cell phone this has happened several times. I called to have my account credited and to AGAIN insist that all text messaging be blocked. I have no need or interest in it. If it supposed to be blocked, how do these things slip through? I remember when it happened, the text was actually a page that I deleted. If text messaging was blocked I should never had received the page. The charges were very, very small but my point in this thread is, if they do this to millions of customers each month and nobody looks at their bill or they let it go because it is so small, just think how much extra money they are generating each year. How many people really look at their bill each month? This kind of thing irritates me to no end. Maybe I'm looking too deep into this....just keep your eye on your bill.

I'll bet it's not as much as Wal-Mart makes off of people who don't check their receipts for mis-scanned prices. My wife checks everything and we find at least one item that's scanned wrong on every receipt. You get it free if it's under $3 but you have to fight with a customer service associate to get it.
BTW, they instruct their checkers not to bring it to your attention when they ring up a sale item and it doesn't register the sale price. Some of the sale items aren't changed to sale prices in the system until a customer says something. Always low prices. Right! This may vary by location, but Wal-Mart also matches other stores' sale prices if you tell them what store and the price. Be prepared to show the other store's ad, though. |
