I do. Clarkson's an arrogant jerk. It might simply be a role he's playing, but I don't care.

i can most definitely say that i'm a fan of Jeremy Clarkson and his personality. i think hes hilarious. big fan of Hammond and May also, but i wish they did more road trips on top gear. and maybe a bit more real car reviews once in a while, just to spice things up.

It's one of my favourite shows when it isn't a rerun I love how Clarkson takes the pi$$ out of the politically correct establishment - he makes me sleep easier at night knowing the whole world hasn't gone mad.

James May is also really cool - I really enjoyed that Man Lab show of his. He has as real subtle sense of humour I really like.

I don't mind Hammond either - he's alright.

It's the style of British humour. It's usually deprecating, often self-deprecating as opposed to American humour where everyone is cool and polite.

The idea isn't to be offended, it's to come back with a witty retort.

A sociologist could watch the two verions of The Office to see the same thing.

Or corny slapstick with canned laughter.

There is still plenty of American humour out there that I think is funny though.

Every time you think Jeremy Clarkson's being insufferable or a bit of a prat just watch the American version of Top Gear and you'll come crawling back and wanna kiss his feet...

It's that boring sophomoric cleverness. Put Jon Stewart, Letterman, and SNL in the same category. A little goes a long way. I don't hate it, nothing on TV gets me that wound up. I just change channels or turn it off. Plenty of people like it, and that's why it's on TV. I'd rather listen to a dog barking.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

...

Sophomoric humor refers to juvenile, puerile, and base comedy that would normally be expected from an adolescent. It is used to refer to a type of comedy that often includes bathroom humor and gags that are based on and appeal to a silly sense of immaturity. The word sophomoric, an adjective dating from 1813, is used to refer to and describe something or someone that is conceited, overconfident, poorly informed and immature, as characterized by a sophomore.[1] The phrase can be derisive, but is also used to refer to a style or vein of comedic act.

I think we might call that college or university humour over here. We don't really have the word or concept of "Sophmore".

I've heard people describe Monty Python as University humour - but Monty Python is my favourite type of humour. I like puns and absurdist humour.

Jeremy Clarkson, outside of Top Gear, has a habit of publicly airing some pretty questionable opinions, and many dislike him for this reason. His personality on Top Gear is a highly edited/scripted version of himself.

I enjoy him on Top Gear, I do not care for him otherwise, though.

Using an American term to describe British humour. That right there is funny.

I also think somewhere along the way Australian's have lost quite a bit of their sense of humour and these days to me it's mostly crass and purile. It used to often be described as Laconic but these days that is disappearing imo.
