Not to brag, but my local GC gives me discounts like that everyday, and on more desirable guitars too. Just ask for their best price, and be prepared to buy and not waste their time.
Anyway, thanks for the link. No good deed goes unpunished! |

I think this thread has probably been very successful in teaching a relatively new member to never again try to share a good deal on the TDPRI.
(I saw the deal. I also noticed that, if you're a first-time customer, you get an additional $20 off. So that would actually be a CV50's Tele for $278. If I'd had the money to spare, I'd have jumped on it. Too bad this deal didn't show up at the first of the month.

I registered just to see what it was about. What I found is that they only have a home page with deals of the day. So I guess they aren't like a regular retail site with a good selection.

Nah, they're more like Musician's Friend's Stupid Deal of the Day, except it's several pages of stuff each day -- and it's gear somebody might actually want.

I think there was even a $100 coupon one could've used, to bring that sucker down to $198 plus free shipping? But ... by the time I read the message (shortly after it arrived I'll add) and went to the site, they were SOLD OUT. Pity, I could've used a fresh CV50. Since I missed it, I'll have to settle for yet another hole in my head!

Wow, people are pretty paranoid here it seems.
Hello Music has some great deals, and frankly, deals that GC or Sweetwater would never have. Tell me how I can get a brand new CP Jazzmaster for $525. OR a Gretsch Renown 57 Drum Set (awesome stuff) for like $800. I don't think so. So you go ahead and treat them like the devil. I'll continue to enjoy some stupid good deals. I hope you guys never use a check card anywhere, because (OMG) THEY HAVE YOUR CARD NUMBER NOW! I've been signed up since HM started, and I've never had an issue. Well, other than getting great deals.

Sorry, not meaning any offense.
I just meant that I find it odd that people are scared (if that's the right term) to give an email address in order to have access to some pretty outstanding deals on music gear. To me it's a no-brainer. No worries, whatever floats everyone's boats is what matters.

Well, yes and no. They do the $100 coupon thing pretty frequently (if you "Like" them on Facebook, at least), but there's always been a $500 minimum order to get the $100 off. Still a good deal, and if you bought some other stuff with the Tele to get to $500, then I guess you could say you got a CV50s for $198 if you wanted to....

Not scared of giving my email address, I just don't need another user name and password.
I do not need to buy another musical instrument. Hello music does need to sell musical instruments, it's a no brainer, make it easy for people to access your website As for the CV BSB I can be at the store in 10 minutes, pay $349 plus sales taxes. Which is most likely cheaper than buying it at $300 from HM, paying taxes, shipping and customs But it's all good, I was just stating my opinion about having to have a user name and password before you can see what hey have to sell,HM, Groupon, etc Sent from my iPad using TDPRI |

I felt the same way at first, and I still generally do feel that way: "If you want to make me jump through hoops just to see what you're trying to sell me, screw you! I'll go somewhere else."
But curiosity got the better of me. I saw you could sign in to Hello Music via Facebook. So I did that, and I never had to come up with user name or password, and I've never had to sign in to Hello Music since. If I click a Hello Music link, I go straight to that page. When I did finally cave in and sign up via Facebook, it was basically because I wanted to prove to myself that Hello Music was just another e-tailer with a dumb marketing department -- that their prices were no better than Musician's Friend or Zzounds.com, or that they only carried close-out stuff nobody had been willing to buy at full price -- but I was wrong about those things. They've got good gear at significant discounts. In the few months I've been watching the HM site, I've seen them offer two guitars I've had my eye on for a long time. I'd have taken them up on both deals if I'd had the disposable cash when the offer was made. Sooner or later, the two may align, and they'll offer something I really want at a time when I have the money to spare. In the mean time, it's fun to check in occasionally and look at what they've got on offer (for the same reasons I find it fun just to browse around on the Sweetwater and MF sites).

And a James Tyler Variax for around $1200. Cool deals for some good stuff if you're ready to buy at the time.
