RIP Duck Dunn

Very sad news. Steve Cropper just relayed the news that Duck Dunn died in Japan this morning.

"Today I lost my best friend, the World has lost the best guy and bass player to ever live. Duck Dunn died in his sleep Sunday morning May 13 in Tokyo Japan after finishing 2 shows at the Blue Note Night Club."

Wow, indeed. Doesn't seem like it was anywhere near time, although all the greats from that era are getting on.

I'm not ready to deal with it, but then I guess I don't get a vote.

Sad news. He gave us so many unforgetable basslines. He died in his bed after finishing a gig. That sounds like he didn't suffer and had fun before he passed ...

Saw him in 1967 with the Stax/Volt Revue. He also visited my country with Tony Joe White in the 80's.

This was totally unexpected (for me anyway) and real shocking.

He was one of the greatest bass players on the planet, and a very nice guy.

I love his syncopated fuzz bass playing on Hip Hug-Her! RIP.
