The Avengers

Just saw The Avengers movie -- in 3D, with vibrating theatre seats -- and loved every minute. Admittedly I'm kind of a sucker for superhero movies; they bring out the kid in me. Good movies in this genre are few and far between, but this one was everything a summer blockbuster should be. Any other fans?

I haven't seen it yet, but my 17 year old son has and he said it's the best super hero movie he's ever seen. And he's seen them all.

I saw it on Friday and your right it is one of the best movies I have seen in quite a while, very well done and for a 2.5 hour movie I never looked at my watch once.

It seems to be getting good reviews from critics, too. I'll check it out when it gets a DVD/BR release.

If anyone could do a good superhero film it'd be Joss Whedon. Now Joss, use the money from this film to fund Firefly season 2.

You really ought to see it on the big screen, totally worth it. Sadly, I'm pretty sure you're hoping against hope as far as Firefly is concerned.

Saw it yesterday. And it is the best movie ever made. And Joss Whedon is probably the best writer/director ever.

Probably, but Whedon has said that he would jump at the chance to bring it back.

I'm not into comic book movies, but I liked it, but not as much as "Captain America."

Also a lot of fun, along with the Iron Man movies.

I'm in the minority here and most everywhere. I've never seen any of those kinds of movies. No Spiderman,Superman, Batman,Star Wars, Star Trek...etc.

Looking forward to it, although I'm going to wait until later in the week to see after the crowds have died down a bit. Can't imagine it would be better than the Dark Knight series.

Hey Lee, you're a funny guy. Beating up nerds is a strange thing to brag about, but to each their own, I guess.

I saw it Friday also, in 3D but no vibrating seats. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I was worried a week or two ago after hearing it was directed by Joss Whedon and that cabin in the woods film. He has been pretty good, aside from that, with stories involving characters he created but I feared he would not be so good with established characters like these. He did a great job. I'm sure I'll see it several more times before it goes to DVD.

Totally love it. So far, the best Marvel movie by a long shot (and I am a HUGE Spiderman fan)...

I am curious to know, "honest Lee Harvey": why did you feel the need to beat comic book geeks?

I'm trying to decide if I want to go back into the land of chaos known as a movie theatre, or if I should just wait for DVD and watch it on my home theatre. My wife really wants to see it this week. I've been waiting for this one ever since Nick Fury first told Tony Stark about the Avenger Initiative.

My wife took me to see it yesterday, and I freakin' loved it! So glad we watched it in 3D too. I'll definitely get it when it comes out on DVD. Great movie!

Tough to say if it's better than the Dark Knight, which I also love. To me, the movies have different feels. The Dark Knight movies are full of darkness, and despair, while the Avengers conveyed hope in the face of the end of the world. The Avengers has some humorous spots too.

I was very keen to see it...but I really don't rate Joss Whedon's work at all. I'm probably gonna go this coming week, and I'm hoping to be proved WRONG. To me all of these Marvel movies have been a tease...apart from Iron Man, I don't think any of them have quite delivered the goods. Captain America came really close tho. I don't know if Marvel will be able to sustain the momentum after Avengers, either.

When you blink and movie that long is already over, it sez something to me.

Wife and I enjoyed it, and I lost a CL deal for 3 decent guitars and a tube amp for 650.00 because we went to see the movie... No regret either.
