Which way do you wear your 2 piece leather strap?
Ones like this:
![]() I've seen people wear em both ways, I personally like the thinner end on the butt of the guitar, that way the broad part covers more of my shoulder. I've tried it the other way around and I end up with the skinny part digging into my shoulder. |

Cue someone to come along and post of picture of someone famous who wears it the wrong way around, and insist I appologize for my blatant error. |

"Although it doesn’t really matter which end of the strap goes on which pin of the guitar, our straps are designed so that you’ll look your best if the adjustment end of the strap is attached to the lower bout pin of the guitar."

I've been using mine with the skinny end at the bottom of the guitar and the thick part on my shoulder.
I never even thought of using it the other way, but when I saw this thread I had to try it just to see. Not only did the skinny part dig into my shoulder, but also the adjustment loop "bump" hits the back of my shoulder - very uncomfortable. Back to the original way it goes...

I believe the ones you see players using in those old pictures are using the kind that are skinny at both ends, and have a small sliding shoulder pad on them.
Also, my strap (levy's) is padded on the wide part, but not on the skinny part.

I hate the look of wide straps, it just screams "Seventies" to me, that's why I prefer the vintage style straps you guys are talking about, and also why I put the skinny part towards the front when using the wide two-piece ones.
I've got a few heavier guitars that I am sort of forced to use big, wide padded straps for. My Schecter Ultra III, my Hamer Standard (Explorer style), and my Dean Cadillac. |

I usually wear them inside out - with the smooth side of the leather against my shoulder - easier to put on and off, and easier to move the guitar around a bit (vital for old rock and roll and rockabilly licks when you're playing on stage)...
