Not a problem. The original artist gets a big shot of royalties and sometimes the kids/adults get exposed to some decent music they haven't heard before.

Win freakin' win, baby!

Plus some studio cats get work. Never forget that. If for no other reason than that, I'd be in favor.

I'd have to watch it to care but I don't watch it.

Doesn't bother me at all. It's great for the writer or rights holder. Some of the arrangements are cool too.

No worse than the talent shows. 2 minutes after the performance it's available on itunes. Money flows, people work, all good. Beauty is we don't have to watch unless it interests us.

Heh,when we play 'Don't stop believin' the kids think it's a modern song because they saw Glee do it.

Less $hitty boom-boom stuff to learn for me.

I watch Glee because my kids like it, so it's a "family TV night". Also, I have the hots for...

... All the red Kustom tuck and roll.

Doesn't bug me.

I find when I hear a cover or even a sample used in a new song, I think "hey, I haven't heard that in a while" and listen to the original.

Aside from the occasional commercial, I'm never exposed to Glee so it doesn't have a chance to bug me. The only time it did get under my skin was when it broke some chart record held by the Beatles and a few people decided that Glee was in fact better than the Beatles as a result.

Glad we cleared that up.

My family has lost interest in Glee but it was a must-watch for the first two seasons. It opened the kids' ears to lots of great music.

Oops...deleted my original because I misunderstood the OP. That would indeed be annoying, because the original song should have top billing, so to speak. Butt I've given up on letting the state of today's music or pop culture bug me. Things will never go back to how we liked it, so we just have to find ways to seek what we like on our own.

As for the show, I thought the first two seasons were great but this one is lacking and all over the place.

I think those kids are great. I'm not an avid watcher but damn they can put a song and dance together. Yeah okay it helps to have a TV production studio in your back pocket, but even so.... Besides, they introduced me to stuff I didn't know, Don't Stop Believing for one, and I know who did it originally... after looking it up. The back story gets a bit lame at times, but the songs and arrangements are top notch.

I agree. My son is now getting into 70's and 80's music because of these shows (and me). Funny aside- my son was watching victorious on nickelodeon and was floored when I was singing along with the show. The episode was a remake of the breakfast club. The look on his face was great "dad, how do you know this song, it's brand new". Ummm, no son, it's 30 years old.

Often they cover songs better than the original.

Agreed.

The only thing that annoys me about glee now is that the music is the only thing good about the show...this season is a snore.

The first season in particular was great.

I think my wife and I annoy the crap out of our daughter when we sing a long with the songs on Glee. For the first season, she seemed surprised, like "wait, you guys know these songs?". Now she just rolls her teenage eyes, lol..

Has the Glee cast covered Van Halen's "You Really Got Me," or Manfred Mann's "Blinded by the Light"?
