Does anyone else..

Adjust the controls on their guitar, even when playing unplugged?

I know it won't change a damn thing, but it bothers me if they aren't turned all the way up.

Are you kidding? We have found cake-flavored ice-cream to go with it!

I thought I was weird. I have to turn my knobs all the way down. Force of habit I guess.

This sounds like something I would do!

And now, unfortunately, I'm going to have to start doing it.

Yep. Cracks my wife up. Sitting, watching TV, no amp, no cable, and I'm still flipping the pickup switch for different passages I'm practicing. Funny stuff.

I do when I practice too, even though I am not plugged in I still like to practice transitioning from front to back pick up while practicing a song. I like to do it at the right time.

It's no different than playing the silent piano.

Guilty as charged. I first noticed it back when I had a Jazzmaster and I was at this trailer park playing by the pool. These two little kids came up and asked me what the knobs did. I told them and realized that I turned them to a certain spot even though it made no difference at all. I still do it.

Yup, I do that too. Playing unplugged while watching TV and flipping the pickup selector or turning the volume pot to max.
I know I do it but I have not figured out why.... :-)

I not only do that, but I have recently noticed that I have some sort of OCD tick of turning the volume all the way up during solos or between passages of a song or at pretty much any time during a gig/practice even though I never turned it down before. My brain knows that it is all the way up, but I still reach there and try to roll it up. I do the same thing if I am holding a guitar and talking to someone, not even playing it, I have to turn it up.
