The HAT Thread...

Do you wear a hat? I figured TDPRI could use a hat thread.

Top hats, cowboy hats, baseball caps, Panama hats, straw hats, felt hats, silly hats, wool hats, fur hats, newsboy caps, fedoras, derbies, berets, beanies, summer hats, winter hats... and while we're at it, thrown in yarmulkes and toupes too... lol

With summer almost here in Dallas, I'm thinking of getting a good summer hat to keep the sun from cooking my brains... I'm thinking less of a cowboy hat, and more of a portable golf umbrella.

I like this Dobbs fedora:

However, this Carlos Santana fedora is calling my name...

I wear a fedora similar to this a lot. I need to get a straw one for the summer.

I don't know how many hats I have, I've worn a hat almost everyday since I was about 5 years old, if I had to guess it's somewhere between 75 to 100 hats. I have a couple of my grandfathers old cowboy hats, some of my dads(who was just buried today wearing a hat), and even own two of Roy Rogers hats I bought at his estate sale.

I wear a Stetson (bought in Nashville) but mostly during our West Australian summers to keep the hot sun off my bald head. 5 minutes without it in the middle of the day and my scalp is cooked and matches the cheapo Candy Apple Red strat copy I've got.... Good color co-ordination.... Slowpoke

There have been several, and they've taught me that most Americans - of all people - don't like cowboy hats! Go figure.

Luckily they're more accepted in Norway, even if only a few people wear them on a daily basis.

I do and have done so for some 35 years.

Stetson, Resistol, Bailey, Beaver Brand - felt or straw: I wear'em proudly!

I like this style:

I did a search for "hats" on TDPRI and couldn't find anything, but I admit that I didn't search for "cowboy hat"... Nothing against cowboy hats, but when I think of "Telecaster" and "Hat" in the same sentence, the first image that pops into my head is Roy Buchanan wearing a cap:

Of course, Roy wore other hats too:

BTW, Found this one too:

One of these 3 criterias has to be met for me to wear a hat
1: it's -20 or colder
2: I am fly fishing
3: I have hat hair because of 1 or 2

Cowboytwang you have my sympathies for the loss of your father

Don't hat the player, hat the game.

Hats are an after thought for me.... not an extension of my personality...

free JD caps from the bottle shop are good enough for me...
it has to be day time and sunny for me to wear them.... beach, work, mowing ,etc...

wearing hats/caps inside pubs/clubs or at night is a bit unusual around here......

I never saw so many people wearing hats/caps at night/indoors than I saw in the US... ?... it was like.. I am my hat...

I mostly wear baseball caps. My favourites are a Fender one and a Gretsch one.

#1 Stage hat "Olney Fedora" has it's own facebook page, but also own both a canvas and a straw one for use in the summer. During the Tour de France the yellow TdF cycling hat has been known to make an appearance.

I'm a cap guy mostly.
I do have a cowboy hat I somehow picked up in Wells Nevada.
I may have also picked up other things in Wells Nevada.

I wear a baseball cap almost any time I'm outside. Either it's keeping the sun off my scalp or the rain off my glasses.

I picked up this hat a few months ago at a cool funky story in downtown Austin.

Love my new hat, here is me wearing it on stage a few weeks ago....

Throw a boonie hat on my head when doing yard work.

Ballcap when riding my bike 'round the neighborhood.

Nothing worse than a toasted noggin.
