First order of business this week will be to strip the pain't off the frame and closely inspect it (fix any cracks or damage) and research to see if I have to "gusset" any weak points in the frame.
The race is set up for loose ball bearings, but I'm gonna convert that to needle or precision bearings. Gonna get all the rust off the tins/bars, and see about sending the oil tank to get a nickel/chrome plate. I'm gonna work on designing a detachable "Ole Lady" seat. I don't like the looks of the step/seat, and the wife won't ride with me often, but I want her to have a nice comfy seat when she does. It'll have to be a detachable frame with a suspension seat, and maybe a sissy bar for her. Gonna go with a high gloss black frame, and dark blue tins. Might even ain the handle bars dark blue too. I don't want a lot of chrome/nickel. The Springer Fork is gonna be painted high-gloss black as well. Don't know if I'm gonna go with white side wall tires, or just straight black wall. Gonna have to see how she develops..... PraiseCasters G1 using TDPRI App |

NICE!! Good luck with it, PC. Keep plenty of pix coming along the way.
Not that you asked........... but IMHO the 650 would be a cooler looking motor. Actually, if you could get a 650 Triumph or BSA motor......................... |

Great! I may have missed it, where did you find the frame? Can you get it sandblasted? If you finds parts in my part of the country I can help with mailing, buyout should be in chopper central

Old school Japanese chopper.
Nice one, Praisecaster. The Amen frame reminds me of reading custom bike magazines back when I was a spotty teenager... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Cool thread! I have an old XS 650 in storage, I haven't rode since '93. It's a project I hope to get to later this summer.
Here's a great website for some ideas I have been looking at. www.650motorcycles.com |
