I hate flame maple.
I absolutely loath flame maple. And quilted, and tiger-striped.
Spalted is cool for bodies, quartersawn is cool for necks, birdseye is...ok for necks...but, as a rule, I hate any kind of patterned wood for guitar bodies/body tops. I'm not really sure why. I can't be the only person who feels this way.

I hate spinach, flat tires, dandelions, myopia, spalted maple and autism (but love my son who has it). I hear that erectile dysfunction is a pain in the ass, and am not looking forward to that ever afflicting me.

I would think it's a lot of bad things, but being a 'pain in the ass' is probably not one of them.

I hate brussels sprouts and flame maple.
Well, maybe hate is too strong a word. When I first saw figured maple on a guitar, I was about 17, and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Very rare, and I remember thinking, "Wow, why can't they put this on EVERYTHING???" Then the DID put it on everything, and I got sick of it.

I don't care what other people like, I just think it's lame and I never want to own anything with a pronounced flame or quilt.
I don't like it on Les Pauls, but I REALLY don't like it on Fenders. Fenders with show-offy flame tops are just wrong, like fake vents and scoops on cars.

To each his own, I like nice looking wood on guitars. It doesn't look right on Fenders though because they were never made with maple tops.
How about tiger maple? (oops, just noticed, you hate this too...)

Not on a train! Not in a tree!
Not in a car! in a box? with a fox? Seriously ... I understand, it's one of the things that turns me off PRS. A guitar should be something you'd take anywhere, not an overly ornate case queen Also figured woods are usually caused by disease or pollution, and apparently don't sound as good.
