Walmart CD Bargain Bin

As Walmart continues to slash the space allotted to music CDs, my local store (and yours, I assume) has a large bargain bin near the checkout aisles. Most of the CDs are crap, but I always dig through it and find a couple that I don't have. They're things that I wouldn't have gone looking for on my own, but for five bucks, any self-respecting guitar player should have. Yesterday's finds:

Gotta love the bargain bin!

Those two in the same bin - cool. My Walmart would have Harper Valley PTA and K-line's Hits of the 80's.

I noticed this at Best Buy a few years ago with their DVD's. I used to buy 4 or 5 DVD's every other week. Then, I went to find an older movie, and POOF, the movie section shrank! Then, I happened to be looking for a certain CD for my wife, stopped at Best Buy, and their selection was gone, too.

So, now I shop on line. I don't use Wally World or Best Buy any more. They're loss...

The glory days of the cut-out bin are probably over, but you can find good stuff if you look. I can't even begin to list all the great LPs I bought for .33-49 cents years ago. Some were .99-1.99.

I know I bought the soundtrack of Riot On Suncet Strip with The Standells and Chocolate Watch Band for .33 cents in Poughkeepsie, NY, and the Leaves' first album on Mira Records for .99 cents.

Dollar stores are also a good source for CD's. I found some interesting stuff. Scarlett Rivera (who played on Dylan's Desire) Walter Trout, a Boyd Tinsley solo album (DMB violinist). Not mainstream, but cool none the less.

More bargains for us folks who like real music, the reason they are there is that most people are stupid and think music is what they hear on radio popular

Woohoo! Last night's score.

Had to go back to Wally-World last night for a bag of guinea pig chow and some miscellaneous groceries. Another $5 non-brainer:

Probably shoulda grabbed VHII and Steamboat Annie, but I left them for somebody else.

Today's Score

Here's today's slightly schizophrenic score, this time from the $6.99 bargain bin at Best Buy:

The first, to replace my old LP; an album I haven't heard since I sold off most of my old vinyl several years ago, in preparation for a cross-country move. (Stupid, stupid, stupid!)

The second, a classic that I have know for 25 years every musician (heck, every human) should hear, but somehow I never got around to it. 2009 remaster, supposedly a good one.

yes, I've found a few good ones in there as well. But one day it occurred to me, after spying a Creed CD in one, that labelling the bin as "favorites" was false advertisement.

Barnes & Noble have a $4.99 CD section. You can usually find some good stuff there.
