Red Tail surprise

One of the local Red Tails got stuck in my green house .

They are quite large up close and a bit intimidating .

He was trying to fly through the green house plastic.

There is only one way out I talked soothingly to it and opened the door wide and tried to steer him toward it.

Eventually he got the idea .

Do not know who was more nervous me or ole Red .

After he got out he sat on a branch near by and stared me for a few minutes .

He was prolly after snakes the snakes love my green house.
He tore things up a bit but all in all I found it an invigorating experience.

The dogs just watched did not even bark.

If I go outside and emulate a hawk screech they will return the shout out and fly by.

I love nature.

This is too cool! You probably have no problems with mice.

Birds of prey are cool. Good that you managed to get him out OK.

I love those red-tails, even if they're so common around here that it's easy to take them for granted.

I mean we all love to spot peregrines, bald eagles, ospreys and stuff, but the humble red-tail is a very impressive bird, especially "up close and personal", as you just found out!

We had three of them living in my backyard. They would sit side by side on a dead pine branch, and watch you intently whenever you went into the yard. I imagined them having conversations as whether they should make a run at the big guy (me).

Hooray for you for getting him safely out. Nothing like seeing a raptor up close to remind you that it's only our size that protects us from them. Very impressive critters.

Your dogs were smart to stay out of it. Makes me think of this picture:
