So I saw an advertisement for country music awards. Featuring KISS playing live.
Guess I am missing something.. |

Uh ho, a thread about KISS again. Only a matter of time before the KISS haters let everybody know how cool they are by saying they hate KISS. Its inevitable. Ha ha ha, those guys sure are funny haha ha.
KISS played at the Houston Rodeo last year. I guess playing at the country music awards is the natural progression of things. Its a KISS world we're all just living in it.

Country Music Awards and KISS were made for each other.

I don't think this is an indictment of KISS or the state of rock-n-roll. I would say this is a comment on the state of country music, in that country music, represented by the CMAs, is no longer country music as we used to define it. Not since The Band Perry, Taylor Swift, and others. Oh, Rascal Flatts was the other band I was thinking of. Obviously, those guys couldn't make it as rock n roll, so decided to do pop country. And in many ways, country is the new pop music, just like rap is also the new pop.
Don't believe me? Watch an episode of The Marty Stuart Show or Midwest Country for a dose of "real," traditional country. When you watch those shows, it's apparent that a) this music doesn't sell as well as Taylor Swift, et. al., and third) the audience is OLD. Shoot, I went to a Brad Paisley concert in Jan. Scotty McCreary opened for The Band Perry, who opened for BP. When SM sang the first note, a 14 y.o. girl with a blanket that had a full-size (top of blankie to bottom of blaknie) headshot of SM on it got hysterical, crying, bawling, screaming, hyper-ventilating. He sang for 30 minutes. Then The Band Perry came on. They were like the Osmonds, only not as good, as in AWFUL!!! Then at this country show...The Band Perry sang "Fat Bottom Girls," a fracking Queen song, right. They sang a cover of a rock song at a country show. To me, that epitomized the state of country music. They played for an excruciatingly long 45 min. Girl and her family still there. Brad Paisley (BP) hit the stage. Two minutes into his real country show, the girl and her family split. Guess they didn't like what he was selling/playing. That also epitomizes the state of country music. It's more pop than anything else. |

Well, what with country music singers having to resort to singing about how tuff it is being a millionaire (several times over) and having to be on the road in your two million dollar bus, yea, I can see it changing a little.

I've been a KISS fan since I was a kid well, up until "Dynasty" anyway. Loved their old stuff and even though they hold no appeal for me any longer I won't harsh on 'em. Simmons however will do anything for a buck so regarding KISS and COUNTRY .... trust me when I say there is something in it for Geno ... just sayin'
