I don't think he's going to do very poorly at the Masters. I think every player has that in their mind again. M

Hogan perfected the modern golf swing, did his stint in the armed service during time of war, came back became the world's greatest player. He had a traffic accident where a bus crossed the divider line hitting he and his wife's car head on, and it's an actual validated fact that he through himself between his wfe and the dashboard saving her and nearly losing his own life. He could not walk after the accident, had to relearn golf, and used to halve to wrap his legs before playing, he went on the win the US Open after that.
When we're talking what might have been, well, Jack (whom I admire, and Tiger, (whom I.......) well they both would have had their hands full with a healthy Hogan with good sticks in his hand. Too bad we can't really match up greats from the past, if we could, Jimmie would be dualing with Stevie.

I watched and as a long time golf lover, reader, watcher & occasional hacker dig the comments on Hogan & Nicklaus. Remarkable golfers. Many who have only paid attention to golf during the Tiger era have missed a lot...
Tiger played very well. I'll stick with what I said here before: he will win more tourneys but will never be the dominating force he once was due to a seed of uncertainty within him & I'll add that his body is aging quite rapidly. |

I think Tiger will certainly win again, maybe even get back to winning majors. He has lost something though, you can see that, he's now an outstanding golfer, but perhaps no longer the greatest golfer, time will tell. He always has suffered a little from tall guy stoop, got rid of it when he was lifting, but now it's back. He looks thinner, and not quite as buff, still looking good, but no longer as cut as he was. He looked relieved to be back, I hope he adds a lot more wins to his record. I was wrong about him not coming back, he's back, maybe not better than ever, but good enough to win again.

While impressive that he (finally) won again... I don't think he's back (yet).
The Masters awaits. We'll see...

...and the golfers that Woods goes up against have access to that same powerful and forgiving equipment.

I thought the pros did not want forgiving (game improvement) equipment. I thought they wanted "player" equipment.
They use blade irons vs cavity back, and driver heads that are only 400cc vs 460cc (or whatever the biggest legal size is). They want to work the ball, and not have the clubs "correct" the ball flight. The technology is better. Probably means more distance. Accuracy and scrambling, however, are still up to the player. IMO. |

I agree that it's the magician and not the wand but any advantage will be utilized. Jack had a quote to that affect back in the day, any advantage that the game allows, take it. As for the Masters, remember, he's finished 4th the last two years. M

How women root for him and encourage their children to do the same is a sad commentary. Watching them fawn over him when he walks by just amazes me.
His ability ,focus and determination are impressive. He is great for the Tour financially. But he is not someone I would ever root for or follow around like a puppy. I will always root for the "field" when he is golfing. I hope he doesn't dominate again. When he is on he is pretty tuff to beat. It will be interesting from here on out.
