Marty is just cool:
I think it's so cool that Marty lets old guys on his show, (I'm and old guy) Freddy Hart is about 85, or 86 years old. I haven't seen him for years, but he used to do a show here in Bakersfield ever once in a while, I've seen him when he at the top of his game.
Cool guy, a marine, genuine Karate expert who taught self defense to cops at the police academy in L.A. years ago. It was amazing to see him still alive and be able to be on the show. Only Marty would do something like that. I don't know anyone who enjoys himself more than Marty, and what a cool band he has, but he always has either had or been in a good band.

Yup.
You are correct sir! It was also cool to see Pig Robbins and Charlie McCoy.

To me Marty is the single most important living person in American country music/culture. He both preserves and renewes it ... There's no way we can thank him enough!
He's also a fantastic photographer - I recommend all fans of Marty, Americana and country culture to get this incredible book! The cover photo shows the last portrait of Johnny Cash, Sept.8, 2003. It could as well have been painted by Rembrandt! Here's a clip about the making of the book: |

I can't get enough of Marty and The Superlatives .... Marty stands alone in country music, a true gentleman!

I could not agree more. Plenty of folk still love traditional country music. Did anyone hear Marty last week playing behind Harry Stinson singing? I had too play that back like 100 times. Great. I couldnt find a youtube clip but I believe the name of the song was "thats what your love means to me".

I've only seen him play twice but he always gives a great performance. I saw him play last year at the sesquicentennial(I think) of a very small town in central Illinois. And I kept thinking, how did they get him to come here and play? A very nice show. He seems like a very down to earth person. I hope to see him play again.

Dang. Missed an episode, on spring break road trip. I hope the automatic-record thing was set, and that it works. I doesn't always.

To guys who never met Freddy Hart he's just an old guy, but man, when he was in his prime he was one hell of a man, not just his music, his life! His hands were hard as steel when he shook your hand, you could see he was buffed out under his suits, he looked like a cop wearing nudie suits. ALWAYS the perfect gentleman though. Kind of like if Chuck Norris was a country singer.

Like Marty said on the show that he was at the Grand Ole Opry the night Freddie Hart got 7 encores! And Charlie McCoy is so good that is goes without saying. Charlie & Pig were part of the original superlatives in late 60's/70 Nashville. Great Show!!!

I got to meet and chat with Freddy Hart back in the 70's at Wembley Country Music Festival. A beaut bloke so polite and showed a great interest in us UK country musicians. I noticed he was wearing a massive gold ring that was the head of a Bull with really big horns stretching out over the next two fingers. I also got to meet Charlie McCoy, Pig Robbins and Lloyd Green and they were so humble and easy to get on with.. Yes all of 'em were and still are great musicians... Slowpoke

Good show. Marty's little outro on the acoustic...I forget what song it was....was real nice. The sound man really knows what's going on.
You guys know who makes the tele Kenny was playing....I think it was silver with a Bigsby?

You are probably thinking about "The Wall" by Freddy Hart. That performance was so good it could be released. They nailed it.
