Windshield wiper and right hand drive?

Over the years I've always had the wiper on the left (drivers side) wear out much faster than the one on the right.(pass side)
So for you guys that drive on the other side of the road. Do your right side wipers wear faster?

Just wondering if looking through the driver side more is the real cause of the faster wiper wear.

Definitely. Looking too hard through glass wears it out.

You don't rotate your wipers every 5000 miles?

I think that it's micro sized grit thrown up in the spray from passing traffic that causes the uneven wear. It will always be worse on the drivers side, no matter if you drive on the proper side of the road or the wrong side like the English,Aussies and Japanese.

No it's because you always look through the drivers side.

Although your point makes more sense.

Some wipers are different sizes right and left. Also, the spring tension may be different, or one may have the little wing thingy to mash down on it more.

My car has a huge wiper on the driver's side (the right side) and a teeny one on the passenger side.

Should I be nervous?

Just rotate the wiper blades when you rotate the tires.

OOps, someone already thought of the idea.

The wiper on the right throws most of it's water and crud over to the wiper on the left so it moves about twice the volume of water and more importantly grit and crud as the right hand wiper. I have always thought wipers run backwards on left hand drive vehicles. If you get muddy water on the windshield as soon as the driver's wiper clears your vision the passengers wiper dumps a fresh load right in front of the driver

I told an Canadian guy once that in Australia the accelerator is on the left and the clutch is on the right of the footwell, and he was, like, "NO WAY! I could never drive there!"

Heh heh.

Talking about wipers, one thing that always gets me on left hand drive cars (and euro imports) is when I come up to a corner I flick the wipers on and they're all dry and they go "SCREEEEEZZZCH" instead of the indicators going, "TICK TOCK TICK TOCK".

I did something similar the other day...and I was driving my own car, dammit. 6.30 PM, getting dark, some idiot coming the other way with no lights on at all so I thought I'd flash my headlights at them. Instead I gave my windscreen a great big wash.

Yeah, that showed 'em.

Doesn't the driver's side wiper travel farther across the windshield?
